Only acknowledge your iniquity, That you have transgressed against the Lord your God, And have scattered your charms To alien deities under every green tree, And you have not obeyed My voice,’ says the Lord.

“ How shall I pardon you for this? Your children have forsaken Me And sworn by those that are not gods. When I had fed them to the full, Then they committed adultery And assembled themselves by troops in the harlots’ houses.They were like well-fed lusty stallions; Every one neighed after his neighbor’s wife.Shall I not punish them for these things?” says the Lord.“ And shall I not avenge Myself on such a nation as this?

Then he looks at men and says,‘ I have sinned, and perverted what was right, And it did not profit me.’He will redeem his soul from going down to the Pit, And his life shall see the light.

The crown has fallen from our head. Woe to us, for we have sinned!

I will arise and go to my father, and will say to him,“ Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you,and I am no longer worthy to be called your son. Make me like one of your hired servants.”’
