“耶和华啊，求你观看！求你鉴察！你曾这样对待过谁呢？难道妇人应该吃掉自己所生的，就是自己所抚养的婴孩吗？难道祭司和先知应该在主的圣所里被杀害吗？”

「耶和華啊，求你看看，你曾這樣對付過誰呢？母親豈能吃自己的孩子？祭司和先知豈能在主的聖所中被殺？

“耶和華啊，求你觀看！求你鑒察！你曾這樣對待過誰呢？難道婦人應該吃掉自己所生的，就是自己所撫養的嬰孩嗎？難道祭司和先知應該在主的聖所裡被殺害嗎？”

永恆主啊，看吧！鑒察吧！看你向誰這樣加罰過！婦人哪能喫自己所生育的，喫自己撫弄的嬰孩呢？祭司和神言人哪可在主的聖所中被殺戮呢？

耶和華歟、尚其鑒察、爾行此於誰兮、婦所產育保抱之子、可自食之乎、祭司先知、可戮於耶和華聖所乎、

耶和華兮、請爾視之、所責者誰、婦之初娩、自食其子、祭司先知、見戮於聖所兮。

主曾責誰若是、主其鑒而思之、婦食所產育所懷抱之嬰孩、祭司先知見戮於主之聖殿、曾有若是者乎、或作求主鑒而視之主曾待誰如此何曾有婦食所生育所懷抱之嬰孩何曾有祭司先知見戮於主之聖殿

Jerusalem says,“ Lord, look at me. Think about my condition. Have you ever treated anyone else like this? Should women have to eat their babies? Should they eat the children they’ve taken care of? Should priests and prophets be killed in your own temple?

Look, O Lord, and see! With whom have you dealt thus? Should women eat the fruit of their womb, the children of their tender care? Should priest and prophet be killed in the sanctuary of the Lord?

“ O Lord, think about this! Should you treat your own people this way? Should mothers eat their own children, those they once bounced on their knees? Should priests and prophets be killed within the Lord’s Temple?

LORD, look and consider to whom you have done this. Should women eat their own children, the infants they have nurtured? Should priests and prophets be killed in the Lord’s sanctuary?

See, Lord, and look! With whom have You dealt this way? Should women really eat their children, The little ones who were born healthy? Should priest and prophet really be killed In the sanctuary of the Lord?

“ See, O Lord, and consider! To whom have You done this? Should the women eat their offspring, The children they have cuddled? Should the priest and prophet be slain In the sanctuary of the Lord?

See, O Jehovah, and behold to whom thou hast done thus! Shall the women eat their fruit, the children that are dandled in the hands? Shall the priest and the prophet be slain in the sanctuary of the Lord?

Lord, look and consider who You have done this to. Should women eat their own children, the infants they have nurtured? Should priests and prophets be killed in the Lord’s sanctuary?

Behold, O LORD, and consider to whom thou hast done this. Shall the women eat their fruit,[ and] children of a span long? shall the priest and the prophet be slain in the sanctuary of the Lord?

“ Look, Yahweh, and see to whom you have done thus! Should the women eat their offspring, the children that they held and bounced on their knees? Should the priest and the prophet be killed in the sanctuary of the Lord?

I will make them eat the flesh of their sons and daughters, and they will eat one another’s flesh because their enemies will press the siege so hard against them to destroy them.’

With their own hands compassionate women have cooked their own children, who became their food when my people were destroyed.

their priests were put to the sword, and their widows could not weep.

But Moses sought the favor of the Lord his God.“ Lord,” he said,“ why should your anger burn against your people, whom you brought out of Egypt with great power and a mighty hand?

But it happened because of the sins of her prophets and the iniquities of her priests, who shed within her the blood of the righteous.

I prayed to the Lord and said,“ Sovereign Lord, do not destroy your people, your own inheritance that you redeemed by your great power and brought out of Egypt with a mighty hand.

“ Both prophet and priest are godless; even in my temple I find their wickedness,” declares the Lord.“ Therefore their path will become slippery; they will be banished to darkness and there they will fall. I will bring disaster on them in the year they are punished,” declares the Lord.“ Among the prophets of Samaria I saw this repulsive thing: They prophesied by Baal and led my people Israel astray.And among the prophets of Jerusalem I have seen something horrible: They commit adultery and live a lie. They strengthen the hands of evildoers, so that not one of them turns from their wickedness. They are all like Sodom to me; the people of Jerusalem are like Gomorrah.”Therefore this is what the Lord Almighty says concerning the prophets:“ I will make them eat bitter food and drink poisoned water, because from the prophets of Jerusalem ungodliness has spread throughout the land.”

But you are our Father, though Abraham does not know us or Israel acknowledge us; you, Lord, are our Father, our Redeemer from of old is your name.Why, Lord, do you make us wander from your ways and harden our hearts so we do not revere you? Return for the sake of your servants, the tribes that are your inheritance.For a little while your people possessed your holy place, but now our enemies have trampled down your sanctuary.We are yours from of old; but you have not ruled over them, they have not been called by your name.

The Lord himself has scattered them; he no longer watches over them. The priests are shown no honor, the elders no favor.

Therefore this is what the Lord says about the prophets who are prophesying in my name: I did not send them, yet they are saying,‘ No sword or famine will touch this land.’ Those same prophets will perish by sword and famine.And the people they are prophesying to will be thrown out into the streets of Jerusalem because of the famine and sword. There will be no one to bury them, their wives, their sons and their daughters. I will pour out on them the calamity they deserve.“ Speak this word to them:“‘ Let my eyes overflow with tears night and day without ceasing; for the Virgin Daughter, my people, has suffered a grievous wound, a crushing blow.If I go into the country, I see those slain by the sword; if I go into the city, I see the ravages of famine. Both prophet and priest have gone to a land they know not.’”

We acknowledge our wickedness, Lord, and the guilt of our ancestors; we have indeed sinned against you.For the sake of your name do not despise us; do not dishonor your glorious throne. Remember your covenant with us and do not break it.

You will eat the flesh of your sons and the flesh of your daughters.

The prophets prophesy lies, the priests rule by their own authority, and my people love it this way. But what will you do in the end?

As I listened, he said to the others,“ Follow him through the city and kill, without showing pity or compassion.Slaughter the old men, the young men and women, the mothers and children, but do not touch anyone who has the mark. Begin at my sanctuary.” So they began with the old men who were in front of the temple.

So the Lord will cut off from Israel both head and tail, both palm branch and reed in a single day;the elders and dignitaries are the head, the prophets who teach lies are the tail.Those who guide this people mislead them, and those who are guided are led astray.Therefore the Lord will take no pleasure in the young men, nor will he pity the fatherless and widows, for everyone is ungodly and wicked, every mouth speaks folly. Yet for all this, his anger is not turned away, his hand is still upraised.

Yet you, Lord, are our Father. We are the clay, you are the potter; we are all the work of your hand.Do not be angry beyond measure, Lord; do not remember our sins forever. Oh, look on us, we pray, for we are all your people.Your sacred cities have become a wasteland; even Zion is a wasteland, Jerusalem a desolation.Our holy and glorious temple, where our ancestors praised you, has been burned with fire, and all that we treasured lies in ruins.After all this, Lord, will you hold yourself back? Will you keep silent and punish us beyond measure?

Then he asked her,“ What’s the matter?” She answered,“ This woman said to me,‘ Give up your son so we may eat him today, and tomorrow we’ll eat my son.’So we cooked my son and ate him. The next day I said to her,‘ Give up your son so we may eat him,’ but she had hidden him.”

Therefore in your midst parents will eat their children, and children will eat their parents. I will inflict punishment on you and will scatter all your survivors to the winds.

“ I called to my allies but they betrayed me. My priests and my elders perished in the city while they searched for food to keep themselves alive.

Because of the suffering your enemy will inflict on you during the siege, you will eat the fruit of the womb, the flesh of the sons and daughters the Lord your God has given you.Even the most gentle and sensitive man among you will have no compassion on his own brother or the wife he loves or his surviving children,and he will not give to one of them any of the flesh of his children that he is eating. It will be all he has left because of the suffering your enemy will inflict on you during the siege of all your cities.The most gentle and sensitive woman among you— so sensitive and gentle that she would not venture to touch the ground with the sole of her foot— will begrudge the husband she loves and her own son or daughterthe afterbirth from her womb and the children she bears. For in her dire need she intends to eat them secretly because of the suffering your enemy will inflict on you during the siege of your cities.
