“耶和华啊，求你观看！求你鉴察！你曾这样对待过谁呢？难道妇人应该吃掉自己所生的，就是自己所抚养的婴孩吗？难道祭司和先知应该在主的圣所里被杀害吗？”

“耶和華啊，求你觀看！求你鑒察！你曾這樣對待過誰呢？難道婦人應該吃掉自己所生的，就是自己所撫養的嬰孩嗎？難道祭司和先知應該在主的聖所裡被殺害嗎？”

永恆主啊，看吧！鑒察吧！看你向誰這樣加罰過！婦人哪能喫自己所生育的，喫自己撫弄的嬰孩呢？祭司和神言人哪可在主的聖所中被殺戮呢？

耶和華歟、尚其鑒察、爾行此於誰兮、婦所產育保抱之子、可自食之乎、祭司先知、可戮於耶和華聖所乎、

耶和華兮、請爾視之、所責者誰、婦之初娩、自食其子、祭司先知、見戮於聖所兮。

主曾責誰若是、主其鑒而思之、婦食所產育所懷抱之嬰孩、祭司先知見戮於主之聖殿、曾有若是者乎、或作求主鑒而視之主曾待誰如此何曾有婦食所生育所懷抱之嬰孩何曾有祭司先知見戮於主之聖殿

“ O Lord, think about this! Should you treat your own people this way? Should mothers eat their own children, those they once bounced on their knees? Should priests and prophets be killed within the Lord’s Temple?

See, Lord, and look! With whom have You dealt this way? Should women really eat their children, The little ones who were born healthy? Should priest and prophet really be killed In the sanctuary of the Lord?

“ See, O Lord, and consider! To whom have You done this? Should the women eat their offspring, The children they have cuddled? Should the priest and prophet be slain In the sanctuary of the Lord?

See, O Jehovah, and behold to whom thou hast done thus! Shall the women eat their fruit, the children that are dandled in the hands? Shall the priest and the prophet be slain in the sanctuary of the Lord?

Lord, look and consider who You have done this to. Should women eat their own children, the infants they have nurtured? Should priests and prophets be killed in the Lord’s sanctuary?

“ Look, Yahweh, and see to whom you have done thus! Should the women eat their offspring, the children that they held and bounced on their knees? Should the priest and the prophet be killed in the sanctuary of the Lord?

I will make them eat the flesh of their sons and their daughters, and they will eat each other’s flesh in the distressing siege inflicted on them by their enemies who intend to take their life.’

Yet you are our Father, even though Abraham does not know us and Israel doesn’t recognize us. You, LORD, are our Father; your name is Our Redeemer from Ancient Times.Why, LORD, do you make us stray from your ways? You harden our hearts so we do not fear you. Return, because of your servants, the tribes of your heritage.Your holy people had a possession for a little while, but our enemies have trampled down your sanctuary.We have become like those you never ruled, like those who did not bear your name.

The LORD himself has scattered them; he no longer watches over them. The priests are not respected; the elders find no favor.

“ Therefore, this is what the LORD says concerning the prophets who prophesy in my name, though I did not send them, and who say,‘ There will never be sword or famine in this land.’ By sword and famine these prophets will meet their end.The people they are prophesying to will be thrown into the streets of Jerusalem because of the famine and the sword. There will be no one to bury them— they, their wives, their sons, and their daughters. I will pour out their own evil on them.”You are to speak this word to them: Let my eyes overflow with tears; day and night may they not stop, for my dearest people have been destroyed by a crushing blow, an extremely severe wound.If I go out to the field, look— those slain by the sword! If I enter the city, look— those ill from famine! For both prophet and priest travel to a land they do not know.

We acknowledge our wickedness, LORD, the iniquity of our ancestors; indeed, we have sinned against you.For your name’s sake, don’t despise us. Don’t disdain your glorious throne. Remember your covenant with us; do not break it.

You will eat the flesh of your sons; you will eat the flesh of your daughters.

The prophets prophesy falsely, and the priests rule by their own authority. My people love it like this. But what will you do at the end of it?

He spoke to the others in my hearing:“ Pass through the city after him and start killing; do not show pity or spare them!Slaughter the old men, the young men and women, as well as the children and older women, but do not come near anyone who has the mark. Begin at my sanctuary.” So they began with the elders who were in front of the temple.

So the LORD cut off Israel’s head and tail, palm branch and reed in a single day.The head is the elder, the honored one; the tail is the prophet, the one teaching lies.The leaders of the people mislead them, and those they mislead are swallowed up.Therefore the Lord does not rejoice over Israel’s young men and has no compassion on its fatherless and widows, for everyone is a godless evildoer, and every mouth speaks folly. In all this, his anger has not turned away, and his hand is still raised to strike.

Yet LORD, you are our Father; we are the clay, and you are our potter; we all are the work of your hands.LORD, do not be terribly angry or remember our iniquity forever. Please look— all of us are your people!Your holy cities have become a wilderness; Zion has become a wilderness, Jerusalem a desolation.Our holy and beautiful temple, where our ancestors praised you, has been burned down, and all that was dear to us lies in ruins.LORD, after all this, will you restrain yourself? Will you keep silent and afflict us severely?

Then the king asked her,“ What’s the matter?” She said,“ This woman said to me,‘ Give up your son, and we will eat him today. Then we will eat my son tomorrow.’So we boiled my son and ate him, and I said to her the next day,‘ Give up your son, and we will eat him,’ but she has hidden her son.”

As a result, fathers will eat their sons within Jerusalem, and sons will eat their fathers. I will execute judgments against you and scatter all your survivors to every direction of the wind.

I called to my lovers, but they betrayed me. My priests and elders perished in the city while searching for food to keep themselves alive.
