我們望眼欲穿，盼望援軍的到來，盼來的國家卻無力拯救我們。

耶和華說：「先知和祭司都不敬虔，我甚至看見他們在我的聖殿裡行惡。因此，他們必被趕到黑暗中，在濕滑的路上跌倒，因為我必在報應的日子降災禍給他們。這是耶和華說的。我看見撒瑪利亞的先知行為可憎，他們靠巴力說預言，引誘我的子民走入歧途。我也看見耶路撒冷的先知行為可惡，他們通姦，謊話連篇，慫恿惡人，以致無人悔過自新。在我眼中，耶路撒冷人就像所多瑪人和蛾摩拉人一樣敗壞。因此，論到這些先知，萬軍之耶和華說，『看啊，我要使他們吃苦艾，喝毒藥，因為褻瀆之風從耶路撒冷的先知那裡蔓延，遍及全境。』」

你們為自己造的神明在哪裡呢？危難時讓他們救你們吧！「猶大人啊，你們神明的數目與你們的城邑一樣多！

你們的盟友都忘了你們，對你們漠不關心。我要像你們的仇敵一樣擊打你們，殘酷地懲罰你們，因為你們罪大惡極，罪過無數。

「這是以色列的上帝耶和華的話，『猶大王派你們來求問我，你們告訴他，前來支援你們的法老軍隊必中途返回埃及，而迦勒底人必捲土重來，攻佔這城，將它付之一炬。耶和華說，你們不要自欺，以為迦勒底人必撤軍。其實他們不會撤軍。

錫安的首領曾比雪純淨，比奶更白，身體比紅寶石更紅潤，相貌美如藍寶石。現在，他們的面目比煤炭還黑，走在街上無人認得。他們骨瘦如柴，乾如枯木。死於刀下的勝過死於饑餓的，後者因田間缺糧而活活餓死。

你和你的人民何必死於戰爭、饑荒和瘟疫呢？耶和華要降這些災難給不肯臣服於巴比倫王的國家。不要聽信那些先知騙人的預言，他們說巴比倫王不會征服你們。耶和華並沒有派他們，他們卻奉祂的名說假預言。如果你們聽信他們的話，耶和華必把你們和假先知趕走，使你們一同滅亡。」
