“ This is why I weep and my eyes overflow with tears. No one is near to comfort me, no one to restore my spirit. My children are destitute because the enemy has prevailed.”

为了这些事我不住哭泣，我的眼不住流下泪水；因为那安慰我、使我重新振作的，都远离了我。我的儿女孤单凄凉，因为仇敌得胜了。

我緣斯而哭泣、滿目流涕兮、慰我心蘇我靈者、遠乎我兮、我之子女伶仃、敵人獲勝兮、

緣此我為哭泣、潸然出涕、蓋慰者遠去、不加拯救兮、敵人勝予、子民煢獨兮。

緣此我哭泣不已、目中流淚如水、能慰藉我、蘇醒我心者、與我遠離、我子俱亡、因敵人得勝、

“ That’s why I am weeping. Tears are flowing from my eyes. No one is near to comfort me. No one can heal my spirit. My children don’t have anything. My enemies are much too strong for me.”

“ For these things I weep; my eyes flow with tears; for a comforter is far from me, one to revive my spirit; my children are desolate, for the enemy has prevailed.”

“ For all these things I weep; tears flow down my cheeks. No one is here to comfort me; any who might encourage me are far away. My children have no future, for the enemy has conquered us.”

I weep because of these things; my eyes flow with tears. For there is no one nearby to comfort me, no one to keep me alive. My children are desolate because the enemy has prevailed.

For these things I weep; My eyes run down with water; Because far from me is a comforter, One to restore my soul. My children are desolate Because the enemy has prevailed.”

“ For these things I weep; My eye, my eye overflows with water; Because the comforter, who should restore my life, Is far from me. My children are desolate Because the enemy prevailed.”

For these things I weep; mine eye, mine eye runneth down with water; Because the comforter that should refresh my soul is far from me: My children are desolate, because the enemy hath prevailed.

I weep because of these things; my eyes flow with tears. For there is no one nearby to comfort me, no one to keep me alive. My children are desolate because the enemy has prevailed.

Bitterly she weeps at night, tears are on her cheeks. Among all her lovers there is no one to comfort her. All her friends have betrayed her; they have become her enemies.

Streams of tears flow from my eyes because my people are destroyed.My eyes will flow unceasingly, without relief,

The hearts of the people cry out to the Lord. You walls of Daughter Zion, let your tears flow like a river day and night; give yourself no relief, your eyes no rest.

If you do not listen, I will weep in secret because of your pride; my eyes will weep bitterly, overflowing with tears, because the Lord’s flock will be taken captive.

My eyes fail from weeping, I am in torment within; my heart is poured out on the ground because my people are destroyed, because children and infants faint in the streets of the city.

“ Speak this word to them:“‘ Let my eyes overflow with tears night and day without ceasing; for the Virgin Daughter, my people, has suffered a grievous wound, a crushing blow.

Her foes have become her masters; her enemies are at ease. The Lord has brought her grief because of her many sins. Her children have gone into exile, captive before the foe.All the splendor has departed from Daughter Zion. Her princes are like deer that find no pasture; in weakness they have fled before the pursuer.

As he approached Jerusalem and saw the city, he wept over itand said,“ If you, even you, had only known on this day what would bring you peace— but now it is hidden from your eyes.The days will come upon you when your enemies will build an embankment against you and encircle you and hem you in on every side.They will dash you to the ground, you and the children within your walls. They will not leave one stone on another, because you did not recognize the time of God’s coming to you.”

Again I looked and saw all the oppression that was taking place under the sun: I saw the tears of the oppressed— and they have no comforter; power was on the side of their oppressors— and they have no comforter.

Streams of tears flow from my eyes, for your law is not obeyed.

How the precious children of Zion, once worth their weight in gold, are now considered as pots of clay, the work of a potter’s hands!Even jackals offer their breasts to nurse their young, but my people have become heartless like ostriches in the desert.Because of thirst the infant’s tongue sticks to the roof of its mouth; the children beg for bread, but no one gives it to them.Those who once ate delicacies are destitute in the streets. Those brought up in royal purple now lie on ash heaps.The punishment of my people is greater than that of Sodom, which was overthrown in a moment without a hand turned to help her.Their princes were brighter than snow and whiter than milk, their bodies more ruddy than rubies, their appearance like lapis lazuli.But now they are blacker than soot; they are not recognized in the streets. Their skin has shriveled on their bones; it has become as dry as a stick.Those killed by the sword are better off than those who die of famine; racked with hunger, they waste away for lack of food from the field.With their own hands compassionate women have cooked their own children, who became their food when my people were destroyed.

Her filthiness clung to her skirts; she did not consider her future. Her fall was astounding; there was none to comfort her.“ Look, Lord, on my affliction, for the enemy has triumphed.”

Even if they rear children, I will bereave them of every one. Woe to them when I turn away from them!

Death has climbed in through our windows and has entered our fortresses; it has removed the children from the streets and the young men from the public squares.

Scorn has broken my heart and has left me helpless; I looked for sympathy, but there was none, for comforters, but I found none.

“ Look, Lord, and consider: Whom have you ever treated like this? Should women eat their offspring, the children they have cared for? Should priest and prophet be killed in the sanctuary of the Lord?“ Young and old lie together in the dust of the streets; my young men and young women have fallen by the sword. You have slain them in the day of your anger; you have slaughtered them without pity.“ As you summon to a feast day, so you summoned against me terrors on every side. In the day of the Lord’s anger no one escaped or survived; those I cared for and reared my enemy has destroyed.”

I speak the truth in Christ— I am not lying, my conscience confirms it through the Holy Spirit—I have great sorrow and unceasing anguish in my heart.For I could wish that I myself were cursed and cut off from Christ for the sake of my people, those of my own race,

I will weep and wail for the mountains and take up a lament concerning the wilderness grasslands. They are desolate and untraveled, and the lowing of cattle is not heard. The birds have all fled and the animals are gone.

Oh, that my head were a spring of water and my eyes a fountain of tears! I would weep day and night for the slain of my people.
