I will therefore put you in remembrance, though ye once knew this, how that the Lord, having saved the people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed them that believed not.

爾雖悉知之、我今欲令爾憶之、即主救民出埃及地、後滅其不信者、

維爾知之素、欲俾爾憶之、昔主救民出埃及地、後滅諸不信者、

爾雖素知之、我仍欲使爾記憶、昔主救民出伊及、後滅諸不信者、

予茲所欲言者、無非爾所習聞素諳、第欲予爾以警惕耳。在昔主既拯斯民於埃及、厥後其中有狐疑不信者、主乃予以消滅。

Though you already know all this, I want to remind you that the Lord at one time delivered his people out of Egypt, but later destroyed those who did not believe.

I want to remind you about some things you already know. The Lord saved his people. At one time he brought them out of Egypt. But later he destroyed those who did not believe.

Now I want to remind you, although you once fully knew it, that Jesus, who saved a people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed those who did not believe.

So I want to remind you, though you already know these things, that Jesus first rescued the nation of Israel from Egypt, but later he destroyed those who did not remain faithful.

Because all those men which have seen my glory, and my miracles, which I did in Egypt and in the wilderness, and have tempted me now these ten times, and have not hearkened to my voice;Surely they shall not see the land which I sware unto their fathers, neither shall any of them that provoked me see it:But my servant Caleb, because he had another spirit with him, and hath followed me fully, him will I bring into the land whereinto he went; and his seed shall possess it.( Now the Amalekites and the Canaanites dwelt in the valley.) Tomorrow turn you, and get you into the wilderness by the way of the Red sea.And the LORD spake unto Moses and unto Aaron, saying,How long[ shall I bear with] this evil congregation, which murmur against me? I have heard the murmurings of the children of Israel, which they murmur against me.Say unto them,[ As truly as] I live, saith the LORD, as ye have spoken in mine ears, so will I do to you:Your carcases shall fall in this wilderness; and all that were numbered of you, according to your whole number, from twenty years old and upward, which have murmured against me,Doubtless ye shall not come into the land,[ concerning] which I sware to make you dwell therein, save Caleb the son of Jephunneh, and Joshua the son of Nun.But your little ones, which ye said should be a prey, them will I bring in, and they shall know the land which ye have despised.But[ as for] you, your carcases, they shall fall in this wilderness.And your children shall wander in the wilderness forty years, and bear your whoredoms, until your carcases be wasted in the wilderness.After the number of the days in which ye searched the land,[ even] forty days, each day for a year, shall ye bear your iniquities,[ even] forty years, and ye shall know my breach of promise.I the LORD have said, I will surely do it unto all this evil congregation, that are gathered together against me: in this wilderness they shall be consumed, and there they shall die.And the men, which Moses sent to search the land, who returned, and made all the congregation to murmur against him, by bringing up a slander upon the land,Even those men that did bring up the evil report upon the land, died by the plague before the LORD.

For some, when they had heard, did provoke: howbeit not all that came out of Egypt by Moses.But with whom was he grieved forty years?[ was it] not with them that had sinned, whose carcases fell in the wilderness?And to whom sware he that they should not enter into his rest, but to them that believed not?So we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief.Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left[ us] of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it.For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard[ it].

Therefore he lifted up his hand against them, to overthrow them in the wilderness:

For indeed the hand of the LORD was against them, to destroy them from among the host, until they were consumed.So it came to pass, when all the men of war were consumed and dead from among the people,

Moreover, brethren, I would not that ye should be ignorant, how that all our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea;And were all baptized unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea;And did all eat the same spiritual meat;And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ.But with many of them God was not well pleased: for they were overthrown in the wilderness.Now these things were our examples, to the intent we should not lust after evil things, as they also lusted.Neither be ye idolaters, as[ were] some of them; as it is written, The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play.Neither let us commit fornication, as some of them committed, and fell in one day three and twenty thousand.Neither let us tempt Christ, as some of them also tempted, and were destroyed of serpents.Neither murmur ye, as some of them also murmured, and were destroyed of the destroyer.Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come.Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall.

This second epistle, beloved, I now write unto you; in[ both] which I stir up your pure minds by way of remembrance:

Nevertheless, brethren, I have written the more boldly unto you in some sort, as putting you in mind, because of the grace that is given to me of God,

Wherefore I will not be negligent to put you always in remembrance of these things, though ye know[ them], and be established in the present truth.Yea, I think it meet, as long as I am in this tabernacle, to stir you up by putting[ you] in remembrance;
