爾雖悉知之、我今欲令爾憶之、即主救民出埃及地、後滅其不信者、

維爾知之素、欲俾爾憶之、昔主救民出埃及地、後滅諸不信者、

爾雖素知之、我仍欲使爾記憶、昔主救民出伊及、後滅諸不信者、

Though you already know all this, I want to remind you that the Lord at one time delivered his people out of Egypt, but later destroyed those who did not believe.

I want to remind you about some things you already know. The Lord saved his people. At one time he brought them out of Egypt. But later he destroyed those who did not believe.

Now I want to remind you, although you once fully knew it, that Jesus, who saved a people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed those who did not believe.

So I want to remind you, though you already know these things, that Jesus first rescued the nation of Israel from Egypt, but later he destroyed those who did not remain faithful.

夫當日聆天主之音、而忤天主之神者、誰耶？非隨摩西出埃及之眾人乎？天主所謂：「厭惡斯代、垂四十春」者、又誰耶？非多行不義、卒至暴屍曠野者乎？天主所誓：「不令入吾安寧」者、又誰耶？非心懷狐疑之諸悖逆乎？鳴呼、若輩之不得入安寗、以不信也；吾人亦可以鑒矣！是故吾人值茲「入吾安寧」之恩諾尚未失效之時、當恐懼修省、各自奮勉；幸毋因循自誤、以致坐失良機也。蓋慈音之達於我輩、宛如昔日達於先人。顧先人聞之、而未獲其益者、以其未能用信德融洽其所聞之道、而身體之耳。

主乃發誓。傾覆頑強。使於曠野。終身徬徨。

且吾不欲兄弟之昧於史訓也。昔吾列祖、悉皆托庇祥雲、行經滄海；祥雲滄海、即若輩共歸摩西之洗禮也。且若輩亦共食同一神糧、共飲同一神水、蓋靈磐常與之偕、若輩得隨時就飲焉。靈磐者何、基督是已。惟當時多數之人、不為天主所悅、卒致橫屍遍野。此事足為吾人炯戒；庶幾吾人毋敢貪戀卑污、如若輩之所為也；毋敢崇拜偶像、如若輩中所為者。經云：『民眾坐而飲食、起而荒嬉、』此之謂也。吾人慎毋犯淫、如若輩中所為者、以致一日之內、二萬三千人同歸於盡。亦毋試主、如若輩中所為者、以致喪命於虺蛇也。亦毋心怨口讟、如若輩中所為者、而被殲於剿討者之手也。凡若輩之種種遭遇、皆足為鑒、載之經籍、所以警我季世之人也。故爾中自以為卓爾有立者、尤宜小心謹慎、時虞殞越耳。

親愛之同道乎、予致書於爾、此已為第二通矣。予之所以一再修書、諄諄不倦者、惟欲激發爾等誠實無妄之心、

今我不揣冒昧、坦率作書者、第欲供爾等以備忘錄耳。且吾既蒙天主之恩寵、

吾雖明知爾之有知、且於爾所受之真道上亦卓爾有立、而猶不憚諄諄予爾以提撕者、蓋吾一日寓此塵宅、即一日有予爾激發之天職；
