Dear friends, although I was very eager to write to you about the salvation we share, I felt compelled to write and urge you to contend for the faith that was once for all entrusted to God’s holy people.

Dear friends, I really wanted to write to you about the salvation we share. But now I feel I should write and ask you to stand up for the faith. God’s holy people were trusted with it once and for all time.

And Paul was reasoning in the synagogue every Sabbath and trying to persuade Jews and Greeks.But when Silas and Timothy came down from Macedonia, Paul began devoting himself completely to the word, testifying to the Jews that Jesus was the Christ.But when they resisted and blasphemed, he shook out his garments and said to them,“ Your blood is on your own heads! I am clean. From now on I will go to the Gentiles.”

But I have written very boldly to you on some points so as to remind you again, because of the grace that was given to me from God,to be a minister of Christ Jesus to the Gentiles, ministering as a priest the gospel of God, so that my offering of the Gentiles may become acceptable, sanctified by the Holy Spirit.

Beloved, this is now the second letter I am writing to you in which I am stirring up your sincere mind by way of a reminder,to remember the words spoken beforehand by the holy prophets and the commandment of the Lord and Savior spoken by your apostles.

Hold on to the example of sound words which you have heard from me, in the faith and love which are in Christ Jesus.

Through Silvanus, our faithful brother( for so I regard him), I have written to you briefly, exhorting and testifying that this is the true grace of God. Stand firm in it!

But you, beloved, ought to remember the words that were spoken beforehand by the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ,

See with what large letters I have written to you with my own hand!

For I handed down to you as of first importance what I also received, that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures,

Therefore, I will always be ready to remind you of these things, even though you already know them and have been established in the truth which is present with you.I consider it right, as long as I am in this earthly dwelling, to stir you up by way of reminder,knowing that the laying aside of my earthly dwelling is imminent, as also our Lord Jesus Christ has made clear to me.And I will also be diligent that at any time after my departure you will be able to call these things to mind.

So I quarreled with them and cursed them, and struck some of them and pulled out their hair, and made them swear by God,“ You shall not give your daughters to their sons, nor take any of their daughters for your sons or for yourselves.
