These people complain and find fault with others. They follow their own evil desires. They brag about themselves. They praise others to get what they want.

彼從欲者、怨尤詬誶、出口矜誇、為利諂人、

此等人常出怨言、不自知足、從其慾而行、口出矜誇、為利以諂人、○

此輩怨天尤人、牢騷滿腹、所行惟殉私欲、所言皆屬荒誕、阿諛諂媚、惟利是圖。

These people are grumblers and faultfinders; they follow their own evil desires; they boast about themselves and flatter others for their own advantage.

These are grumblers, malcontents, following their own sinful desires; they are loud-mouthed boasters, showing favoritism to gain advantage.

These people are grumblers and complainers, living only to satisfy their desires. They brag loudly about themselves, and they flatter others to get what they want.

These people are discontented grumblers, living according to their desires; their mouths utter arrogant words, flattering people for their own advantage.

These are grumblers, finding fault, following after their own lusts; they speak arrogantly, flattering people for the sake of gaining an advantage.

These are grumblers, complainers, walking according to their own lusts; and they mouth great swelling words, flattering people to gain advantage.

These are murmurers, complainers, walking after their lusts( and their mouth speaketh great swelling words), showing respect of persons for the sake of advantage.

These people are discontented grumblers, walking according to their desires; their mouths utter arrogant words, flattering people for their own advantage.

These are murmurers, complainers, walking after their own lusts; and their mouth speaketh great swelling[ words], having men’s persons in admiration because of advantage.

These people are grumblers and fault- finders who go wherever their desires lead them, and they give bombastic speeches, enchanting folks for their own gain.

They speak empty, bragging words. They make their appeal to the evil desires that come from sin’s power. They tempt new believers who are just escaping from the company of sinful people.

Most of all, this is true of people who follow desires that come from sin’s power. These people hate to be under authority. They are bold and proud. So they aren’t even afraid to speak evil things against heavenly beings.

Do everything without complaining or arguing.

But there were also false prophets among the people. In the same way there will be false teachers among you. In secret they will bring in teachings that will destroy you. They will even turn against the Lord and Master who died to pay for their sins. So they will quickly destroy themselves.Many people will follow their lead. These people will do the same evil things the false teachers do. They will cause people to think badly about the way of truth.These teachers are never satisfied. They want to get something out of you. So they make up stories to take advantage of you. They have been under a sentence of death for a long time. The God who will destroy them has not been sleeping.

You and all your followers have joined together against the Lord. Why are you telling Aaron you aren’t happy with him?”

It stirs up trouble all the time among people whose minds are twisted by sin. The truth they once had has been taken away from them. They think they can get rich by being godly.

Don’t speak against God. That’s what some of the people of Israel did. And they were killed by the destroying angel.

“‘ Do not make something wrong appear to be right. Treat poor people and rich people in the same way. Do not favor one person over another. Instead, judge everyone fairly.

They hate evil people. But they honor those who have respect for the Lord. They keep their promises even when it hurts. They do not change their mind.

As a result, they don’t live the rest of their earthly life for evil human desires. Instead, they live to do what God wants.

They told you,“ In the last days, some people will make fun of the truth. They will follow their own ungodly desires.”

Don’t desire to commit sexual sins like people who don’t know God.

I will give understanding to you who find yourselves going astray. You who are always speaking against others will accept what I teach you.”

Dear friends, you are outsiders and those who wander in this world. So I’m asking you not to give in to your sinful desires. They fight against your soul.

But each person is tempted by their own evil desires. These desires lead them on and drag them away.When these desires are allowed to remain, they lead to sin. And when sin is allowed to remain and grow, it leads to death.

They make their hearts hard and stubborn. Their mouths speak with pride.

Then the Jews there began to complain about Jesus. That was because he said,“ I am the bread that came down from heaven.”

So the Lord struck down the men Moses had sent to check out the land. They had returned and had spread a bad report about the land. And that had made the whole community speak out against Moses.

The time will come when people won’t put up with true teaching. Instead, they will try to satisfy their own desires. They will gather a large number of teachers around them. The teachers will say what the people want to hear.

So I say, live by the Holy Spirit’s power. Then you will not do what your desires controlled by sin want you to do.

You should obey your Father. You shouldn’t give in to evil desires. They controlled your life when you didn’t know any better.

Those who belong to Christ Jesus have nailed their sinful desires to his cross. They don’t want these things anymore.

But the Pharisees and the teachers of the law were whispering among themselves. They said,“ This man welcomes sinners and eats with them.”

My brothers and sisters, you are believers in our glorious Lord Jesus Christ. So treat everyone the same.Suppose a man comes into your meeting wearing a gold ring and fine clothes. And suppose a poor man in dirty old clothes also comes in.Would you show special attention to the man wearing fine clothes? Would you say,“ Here’s a good seat for you”? Would you say to the poor man,“ You stand there”? Or“ Sit on the floor by my feet”?If you would, aren’t you treating some people better than others? Aren’t you like judges who have evil thoughts?My dear brothers and sisters, listen to me. Hasn’t God chosen those who are poor in the world’s eyes to be rich in faith? Hasn’t he chosen them to receive the kingdom? Hasn’t he promised it to those who love him?But you have disrespected poor people. Aren’t rich people taking advantage of you? Aren’t they dragging you into court?Aren’t they speaking evil things against the worthy name of Jesus? Remember, you belong to him.The royal law is found in Scripture. It says,“ Love your neighbor as you love yourself.”( Leviticus 19:18) If you really keep this law, you are doing what is right.But you sin if you don’t treat everyone the same. The law judges you because you have broken it.

All the people saw this. They began to whisper among themselves. They said,“ Jesus has gone to be the guest of a sinner.”

You spoke against him in your tents. You said,“ The Lord hates us. That’s why he brought us out of Egypt to hand us over to the Amorites. He wanted to destroy us.

He doesn’t favor princes. He treats rich people and poor people the same. His hands created all of them.

He is coming to judge everyone. He is coming to sentence all of them. He will judge them for all the ungodly acts they have done. They have done them in ungodly ways. He will sentence ungodly sinners for all the things they have said to oppose him.”

Jesus was aware that his disciples were complaining about his teaching. So he said to them,“ Does this upset you?

You have closed the minds of those who are trying to comfort me. They don’t understand that I haven’t done anything wrong. So don’t let them win the argument.Suppose someone tells lies about their friends to get a reward. Then their own children will suffer for it.

They brag as if they owned heaven itself. They talk as if they controlled the earth.So people listen to them. They lap up their words like water.They say,“ How would God know what we’re doing? Does the Most High God know anything?”

I’ll treat everyone the same. I won’t praise anyone without meaning it.

Most of all, here is what you must understand. In the last days people will make fun of the truth. They will laugh at it. They will follow their own evil desires.

Favoring one person over another is not good. But a person will do wrong for a piece of bread.

In their tents they told the Lord how unhappy they were. They didn’t obey him.

But the Pharisees and their teachers of the law complained to Jesus’ disciples. They said,“ Why do you eat and drink with tax collectors and sinners?”
