They are like trees in autumn that are doubly dead, for they bear no fruit and have been pulled up by the roots.

Does it seem a small thing to you to have fed on the good pasture, but you must tread down with your feet the residue of your pasture? And to have drunk of the clear waters, but must you foul the residue with your feet?

Other seed fell on the rock, and as soon as it grew, it withered away, because it had no moisture.

“ Say,‘ The Lord Yahweh says:“ Will it prosper? Won’t he pull up its roots, and cut off its fruit, that it may wither; that all its fresh springing leaves may wither? It can’t be raised from its roots by a strong arm or many people.

then I will pluck them up by the roots out of my land which I have given them; and this house, which I have made holy for my name, I will cast out of my sight, and I will make it a proverb and a byword among all peoples.

Seeing a fig tree by the road, he came to it, and found nothing on it but leaves. He said to it,“ Let there be no fruit from you forever!” Immediately the fig tree withered away.When the disciples saw it, they marveled, saying,“ How did the fig tree immediately wither away?”

So they ate, and were well filled. He gave them their own desire.They didn’t turn from their cravings. Their food was yet in their mouths,when the anger of God went up against them, killed some of their fattest, and struck down the young men of Israel.

“ Son of man, prophesy against the shepherds of Israel. Prophesy, and tell them, even the shepherds,‘ The Lord Yahweh says:“ Woe to the shepherds of Israel who feed themselves! Shouldn’t the shepherds feed the sheep?

so then let’s not sleep, as the rest do, but let’s watch and be sober.For those who sleep, sleep in the night; and those who are drunk are drunk in the night.

But she who gives herself to pleasure is dead while she lives.

His watchmen are blind. They are all without knowledge. They are all mute dogs. They can’t bark— dreaming, lying down, loving to slumber.Yes, the dogs are greedy. They can never have enough. They are shepherds who can’t understand. When therefore you assemble yourselves together, it is not the Lord’s supper that you eat.For in your eating each one takes his own supper first. One is hungry, and another is drunken.What, don’t you have houses to eat and to drink in? Or do you despise God’s assembly and put them to shame who don’t have enough? What shall I tell you? Shall I praise you? In this I don’t praise you.
