So they said to Joshua,“ We are your servants.” Then Joshua said to them,“ Who are you and where do you come from?”

其人謂約書亞曰、我乃爾僕、約書亞曰、爾曹何人、奚自而來、

曰、我儕願為爾僕。約書亞曰、爾曹何人、奚自。

彼謂約書亞曰、我儕願為爾僕、約書亞曰、爾曹為誰、從何而來、

“ We are your servants,” they said to Joshua. But Joshua asked,“ Who are you and where do you come from?”

“ We’ll serve you,” they said to Joshua. But Joshua asked,“ Who are you? Where do you come from?”

They said to Joshua,“ We are your servants.” And Joshua said to them,“ Who are you? And where do you come from?”

They replied,“ We are your servants.”“ But who are you?” Joshua demanded.“ Where do you come from?”

They said to Joshua,“ We are your servants.” Then Joshua asked them,“ Who are you and where do you come from?”

But they said to Joshua,“ We are your servants.” And Joshua said to them,“ Who are you, and where do you come from?”

And they said unto Joshua, We are thy servants. And Joshua said unto them, Who are ye? and from whence come ye?

They said to Joshua,“ We are your servants.” Then Joshua asked them,“ Who are you and where do you come from?”

And they said unto Joshua, We[ are] thy servants. And Joshua said unto them, Who[ are] ye? and from whence come ye?

But they said to Joshua,“ We are willing to be your subjects.” So Joshua said to them,“ Who are you and where do you come from?”

They said to Joshua,“ We are your servants.” Joshua said to them,“ Who are you? Where do you come from?”

And the one who was in charge of the household, and the one who was in charge of the city, and the elders, and the guardians of the children, sent word to Jehu, saying,“ We are your servants, and everything that you tell us we will do. We will not appoint any man king; do what is good in your sight.”

And if it agrees to make peace with you and opens to you, then all the people who are found in it shall become your forced labor and serve you.

So our elders and all the inhabitants of our country spoke to us, saying,‘ Take provisions in your hand for the journey, and go to meet them, and say to them,“ We are your servants; now then, make a covenant with us.” ’

Now therefore, you are cursed, and you will never cease to be slaves, both gatherers of firewood and labor to draw water for the house of my God.”

And now behold, we are in your hands; do to us as it seems good and right in your sight to do.”

As for all the people who were left of the Amorites, the Hittites, the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites, who were not of the sons of Israel,their descendants who were left after them in the land, whom the sons of Israel were unable to completely eliminate, from them Solomon conscripted forced laborers, as they are to this day.

So he said,“ Cursed be Canaan; A servant of servants He shall be to his brothers.”He also said,“ Blessed be the Lord, The God of Shem; And may Canaan be his servant.

But on that day Joshua made them gatherers of firewood and labor to draw water for the congregation and for the altar of the Lord, to this day, in the place which He would choose.
