And they went to Joshua unto the camp at Gilgal, and said unto him, and to the men of Israel, We be come from a far country: now therefore make ye a league with us.

Then they went to Joshua in the camp at Gilgal and said to him and the Israelites,“ We have come from a distant country; make a treaty with us.”

Then came Isaiah the prophet unto king Hezekiah, and said unto him, What said these men? and from whence came they unto thee? And Hezekiah said, They are come from a far country,[ even] from Babylon.

And they said unto him, From a very far country thy servants are come because of the name of the LORD thy God: for we have heard the fame of him, and all that he did in Egypt,

Moreover concerning a stranger, that[ is] not of thy people Israel, but cometh out of a far country for thy name’s sake;

And Joshua returned, and all Israel with him, unto the camp to Gilgal.

And it shall be, if it make thee answer of peace, and open unto thee, then it shall be,[ that] all the people[ that is] found therein shall be tributaries unto thee, and they shall serve thee.And if it will make no peace with thee, but will make war against thee, then thou shalt besiege it:And when the LORD thy God hath delivered it into thine hands, thou shalt smite every male thereof with the edge of the sword:But the women, and the little ones, and the cattle, and all that is in the city,[ even] all the spoil thereof, shalt thou take unto thyself; and thou shalt eat the spoil of thine enemies, which the LORD thy God hath given thee.Thus shalt thou do unto all the cities[ which are] very far off from thee, which[ are] not of the cities of these nations.
