Then Joshua summoned the Gibeonites and said,“ Why did you deceive us by saying,‘ We live a long way from you,’ while actually you live near us?

Joshua sent for the people of Gibeon. He said to them,“ Why did you trick us? You said,‘ We live far away from you.’ But in fact you live close to us.

Joshua summoned them, and he said to them,“ Why did you deceive us, saying,‘ We are very far from you,’ when you dwell among us?

Joshua called together the Gibeonites and said,“ Why did you lie to us? Why did you say that you live in a distant land when you live right here among us?

他們到吉甲營中約書亞那裏，對他和以色列人說：「我們是從遠地來的，現在求你與我們立約。」

以色列人與他們立約之後，過了三天才聽說他們是近鄰，住在附近。

到了早晨，看哪，她是利亞，雅各對拉班說：「你向我做的是甚麼事呢？我服事你，不是為拉結嗎？你為甚麼欺騙我呢？」

以掃因他父親給雅各的祝福，就怨恨雅各，心裏說：「為我父親居喪的時候近了，到那時候，我要殺我的弟弟雅各。」有人把利百加大兒子以掃的話告訴利百加，她就派人去，叫了她小兒子雅各來，對他說：「看哪，你哥哥以掃想要殺你來洩恨。現在，我兒，聽我的話，起來，逃往哈蘭，到我哥哥拉班那裏去，同他住一段日子，直等到你哥哥的怒氣消了。等到你哥哥向你消了怒氣，忘了你向他所做的事，我就派人去，把你從那裏帶回來。我何必在一天之內喪失你們二人呢？」

耶和華上帝對女人說：「你怎麼會做這種事呢？」女人說：「那蛇引誘我，我就吃了。」耶和華上帝對蛇說：「你既做了這事，就必受詛咒，比一切的牲畜和野獸更重。你必用肚子行走，終生吃土。

以撒說：「你弟弟已經用詭計來把你的福分奪去了。」以掃說：「他名叫雅各，豈不是這樣嗎？他欺騙了我兩次：他先前奪了我長子的名分，看哪，他現在又奪了我的福分。」以掃又說：「你沒有留下給我的祝福嗎？」

我只怕你們的心偏邪了，失去那向基督所獻誠懇貞潔的心，就像蛇用詭詐誘惑了夏娃一樣。
