Then Joshua summoned the Gibeonites and said,“ Why did you deceive us by saying,‘ We live a long way from you,’ while actually you live near us?

Joshua sent for the people of Gibeon. He said to them,“ Why did you trick us? You said,‘ We live far away from you.’ But in fact you live close to us.

Joshua summoned them, and he said to them,“ Why did you deceive us, saying,‘ We are very far from you,’ when you dwell among us?

Joshua called together the Gibeonites and said,“ Why did you lie to us? Why did you say that you live in a distant land when you live right here among us?

Joshua summoned the Gibeonites and said to them,“ Why did you deceive us by telling us you live far away from us, when in fact you live among us?

Then Joshua called for them and spoke to them, saying,“ Why have you deceived us, saying,‘ We are very far from you,’ when you are living within our land?

And Joshua called for them, and he spake unto them, saying, Wherefore have ye beguiled us, saying, We are very far from you; when ye dwell among us?

Joshua summoned the Gibeonites and said to them,“ Why did you deceive us by telling us you live far away from us, when in fact you live among us?

他們到了吉甲營中見約書亞，對他和以色列人說：『我們是從遠地來的；現在求你和我們立約。』

以色列人和他們立約之後、過了三天、才聽說他們是自己的近鄰，是住在自己中間的。

到了早晨，一看，竟是利亞呀！雅各就對拉班說：『你這向我作的是甚麼事啊？我跟你做長工、不是為了拉結的緣故麼？你為甚麼哄騙我？

他們對他說：『你僕人是為了永恆主你的上帝至大之名就從很遠之地而來的；因為我們聽見了他的名聲：他在埃及所行的一切事，以及他對約但河東邊的亞摩利人兩個王、對希實本王西宏、對在亞斯他錄的巴珊王噩——所行一切的事。

以掃因了他父親給雅各祝的福，就懷恨雅各，以掃心裏說：『為我父親居喪的日子近了；那時我一定要殺我兄弟雅各。』有人把利伯加大兒子以掃所說的話告訴利伯加，利伯加就打發人把小兒子雅各叫來，對他說：『注意吧，關於你的事，你哥哥想要殺你、來消他的恨。現在我兒，你要聽我的話；起來，逃往喀蘭，我哥哥拉班那裏。同他住些日子，等到你哥哥怒氣轉消。你哥哥向你發的怒氣消了，忘了你向他所作的事了，我便打發人去把你從那裏帶來。我何苦來一日喪了你們二人呢？』

永恆主上帝對女人說：『你幹的甚麼事啊？』女人說：『是蛇誘騙了我，我才喫了。』永恆主上帝對蛇說：『你既作了這事，就必受咒詛；比一切牲口一切野獸更重。你必用肚子走路，儘你一生的日子喫土。

以撒說：『你兄弟進來，用詭詐把你應得的祝福取了去了。』以掃說：『是不是因為他名叫「欺騙」、他才欺騙了我這兩次呢？我的長子名分、他取了去；如今你看，他又把我應得的祝福取了去。』以掃又說：『難道你沒有給我保留個祝福麼？』

我只怕蛇怎樣用牠的狡猾誘惑了夏娃，你們的心意怎樣敗壞、失去了忠於基督的純一心。
