七月初一日，祭司以斯拉將律法書帶到聽了能明白的男女會眾面前。

「耶和華如此說：你站在耶和華殿的院內，對猶大眾城邑的人，就是到耶和華殿來禮拜的，說我所吩咐你的一切話，一字不可刪減。

以斯拉禱告，認罪，哭泣，俯伏在神殿前的時候，有以色列中的男女孩童聚集到以斯拉那裏，成了大會，眾民無不痛哭。

過了這幾天，我們就起身前行。他們眾人同妻子兒女，送我們到城外，我們都跪在岸上禱告，彼此辭別。

聚集眾民，使會眾自潔：招聚老者，聚集孩童和吃奶的；使新郎出離洞房，新婦出離內室。

耶穌看見就惱怒，對門徒說：「讓小孩子到我這裏來，不要禁止他們；因為在神國的，正是這樣的人。

又有許多閒雜人，並有羊羣牛羣，和他們一同上去。

因為神的旨意，我並沒有一樣避諱不傳給你們的。

所吩咐你們的話，你們不可加添，也不可刪減，好叫你們遵守我所吩咐的，就是耶和華－你們神的命令。
