as Moses the servant of the Lord had commanded the Israelites. He built it according to what is written in the Book of the Law of Moses— an altar of uncut stones, on which no iron tool had been used. On it they offered to the Lord burnt offerings and sacrificed fellowship offerings.

Moses, the servant of the Lord, had commanded the Israelites to do that. Joshua built the altar according to what is written in the Book of the Law of Moses. Joshua built the altar out of stones that iron tools had never touched. Then the people offered on the altar burnt offerings to the Lord. They also sacrificed friendship offerings on it.

Do not use any iron tool on them.Build the altar of the Lord your God with fieldstones and offer burnt offerings on it to the Lord your God.Sacrifice fellowship offerings there, eating them and rejoicing in the presence of the Lord your God. Elijah took twelve stones, one for each of the tribes descended from Jacob, to whom the word of the Lord had come, saying,“ Your name shall be Israel.”With the stones he built an altar in the name of the Lord, and he dug a trench around it large enough to hold two seahs of seed. (niv)

And they installed the priests in their divisions and the Levites in their groups for the service of God at Jerusalem, according to what is written in the Book of Moses. (niv)

Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful. (niv)
