在挪亞的日子怎樣，在人子的日子也必怎樣；人喫喝嫁娶，直到挪亞進樓船那一天，洪水一來，把他們都滅了。又好像在羅得的日子一樣；人喫喝買賣，栽種建造；但羅得從所多瑪出來那一天，上帝從天上下火雨跟硫磺雨，把他們都滅了。在人子顯示出來的日子也必如此。

就在那一天，約書亞就攻取了瑪基大，用刀擊殺了城中的人和王，將他們和其中一切人口、盡行殺滅歸神，沒有留下一個殘存的；他處置瑪基大王、就像處置耶利哥王一樣。
