全以色列中的一萬精兵來到基比亞前，戰爭十分激烈。便雅憫人卻不知道災禍臨近了。耶和華在以色列面前擊打便雅憫。那日，以色列人殲滅二萬五千一百個便雅憫人，都是拿刀的士兵。便雅憫人看到自己戰敗了。以色列人因為信任在基比亞前所設的伏兵，就在便雅憫人面前假裝撤退。

他們因貪婪，要用捏造的言語在你們身上取得利益。他們的懲罰，自古以來並不遲延；他們的滅亡也必迅速來到。

弟兄們，關於那時候和日期，不用人寫信給你們，因為你們自己明明知道，主的日子來到會像賊在夜間突然來到一樣。人正說平安穩定的時候，災禍忽然臨到他們，如同陣痛臨到懷胎的婦人一樣，他們絕逃脫不了。

瑣安的官長極其愚昧，法老智慧的謀士籌劃愚謀；你們怎敢對法老說：「我是智慧人的子孫，是古代國王的後裔？」

在想不到的日子，不知道的時候，那僕人的主人要來，

這話還在王口中的時候，有聲音從天降下，說：「尼布甲尼撒王啊，有話對你說，你的國離開你了。

人不知道自己的定期。魚被險惡的網圈住，鳥被羅網捉住，禍患的時刻忽然臨到，世人陷在其中也是如此。

不知不覺洪水來了，把他們全都沖去。人子來臨也要這樣。

以下是摩西在約旦河東的曠野，疏弗對面的亞拉巴，就是在巴蘭、陀弗、拉班、哈洗錄、底撒哈之間，向以色列眾人所說的話。
