The Canaanites and the other people of the country will hear about this and they will surround us and wipe out our name from the earth. What then will you do for your own great name?”

The Canaanites will hear about it. So will everyone else in the country. They will surround us. They’ll erase any mention of our name from the face of the earth. Then what will you do when people don’t honor your great name anymore?”

For the Canaanites and all the inhabitants of the land will hear of it and will surround us and cut off our name from the earth. And what will you do for your great name?”

他們說：「來吧，我們將他們除滅，使他們不再成國！使以色列的名不再被人記念！」

為甚麼讓埃及人說：『他領他們出去，是要降災禍給他們，在山中把他們殺了，將他們從地上除滅』呢？求你回心轉意，不發你的烈怒，不降災禍給你的百姓。

事奉耶和華的祭司要在走廊和祭壇間哭泣，說：「耶和華啊，求你顧惜你的百姓，不要使你的產業受羞辱，在列國中成為笑柄。為何讓人在萬民中說『他們的上帝在哪裏』呢？」

「所以，你要對以色列家說，主耶和華如此說：以色列家啊，我做這事不是為你們，而是為了我的聖名，就是你們在所到的列國中褻瀆的。我要使我至大的名顯為聖；這名在列國中已遭褻瀆，是你們在他們中間褻瀆的。我在他們眼前，在你們身上顯為聖的時候，他們就知道我是耶和華。這是主耶和華說的。

父啊，願你榮耀你的名！」於是有聲音從天上來，說：「我已經榮耀了我的名，還要再榮耀。」

免得你領我們出來的那地之人說：耶和華因為不能將這百姓領進他所應許之地，又因恨他們，所以領他們出去，要在曠野殺他們。

若不是耶和華幫助我們，當人起來攻擊我們，那時，人向我們發怒，就把我們活活吞了；

我這麼做是為了我名的緣故，免得我的名在他們所居住之列國眼中被褻瀆；我曾在這些列國眼前向他們顯現，領他們出了埃及地。

摩西對耶和華說：「埃及人必聽見，因你曾施展大能，領這百姓從他們中間出來。

我曾說，我要粉碎他們，使他們的名從人間消失。惟恐仇敵挑釁，他們的敵人誤解，說，我們的手得勝了，這一切並非耶和華做的。』

我們與我們的祖宗一同犯罪，偏邪行惡。我們的祖宗在埃及不明白你的奇事，不記念你豐盛的慈愛，反倒在紅海行了悖逆。然而，他因自己的名拯救他們，為要彰顯他的大能。
