The Canaanites and the other people of the country will hear about this and they will surround us and wipe out our name from the earth. What then will you do for your own great name?”

The Canaanites will hear about it. So will everyone else in the country. They will surround us. They’ll erase any mention of our name from the face of the earth. Then what will you do when people don’t honor your great name anymore?”

For the Canaanites and all the inhabitants of the land will hear of it and will surround us and cut off our name from the earth. And what will you do for your great name?”

他們說：“來吧！我們來把他們除滅，使他們不再成國，使以色列的名不再被人記念。”

為甚麼讓埃及人議論，說：‘把他們領出來是出於惡意的，要在山上殺死他們，在地上消滅他們’呢？求你回心轉意，不發烈怒；求你改變初衷，不降禍給你的人民。

讓事奉耶和華的祭司在聖殿的廊子和祭壇之間哭泣，讓他們說：“耶和華啊！求你憐恤你的子民。不要使你的產業受羞辱，使他們在列國中成為笑談。為甚麼容人在萬民中譏笑說：‘他們的神在哪裡呢？’”

“因此，你要對以色列家說：‘主耶和華這樣說：以色列家啊！我作這事，不是為了你們，而是為了我自己的聖名，就是在你們所去的列邦那裡所褻瀆的，我要使我的大名顯為聖，這名在列邦中已經被褻瀆了，是你們在他們中間所褻瀆的。我在你們身上向他們顯為聖的時候，他們就知道我是耶和華。這是主耶和華的宣告。

父啊，願你榮耀你的名！”當時有聲音從天上來，說：“我已經榮耀了我的名，還要再榮耀。”

免得你領我們從那裡出來的那地的人說：“耶和華因為不能把他們領進他應許的地，又因為恨他們，所以才把他們領出來，要在曠野殺死他們。”

如果不是耶和華幫助我們；那麼，人起來攻擊我們，向我們發怒的時候，就把我們活活吞下去了。

然而我為了我名的緣故沒有這樣作，免得我的名在他們寄居的列國的人眼中被褻瀆，我把他們從埃及地領出來，在列國的人眼前向他們顯現。

摩西對耶和華說：“這樣埃及人必聽見這事，因為你曾用大能，把這民從他們中間領上來；

我原想：“我要把他們分散到各處，把他們的名號都從人間除滅。”但我懼怕仇人激動我，恐怕敵人誤會了，又恐怕他們說：“是我們的手高舉了，並不是耶和華作了這一切事。”’

我們和我們的列祖都犯了罪，我們作了孽，也行了惡。我們的列祖在埃及的時候，不明白你的奇事，也不記念你豐盛的慈愛，反倒在紅海的海邊悖逆了你。但他因自己的名的緣故拯救他們，為要彰顯他的大能。
