And Joshua said,“ Oh, Lord God! Why did You ever bring this people across the Jordan, only to hand us over to the Amorites, to eliminate us? If only we had been willing to live beyond the Jordan!

约书亚说：“唉！主耶和华啊，你为什么领这百姓过约旦河，把我们交在亚摩利人手中，使我们灭亡呢？我们不如住在约旦河的那边！

约书亚说：“唉！主耶和华啊，你让我们过了约旦河，为什么把我们交在亚摩利人手上，让他们毁灭我们呢？倒不如让我们住在约旦河对岸！

约书亚说：“唉！主耶和华啊，你为什么领这人民过约旦河，为要把我们交在亚摩利人的手中，使我们灭亡呢？我们宁愿住在约旦河那边倒好。

約書亞說：「唉！主耶和華啊，你讓我們過了約旦河，為什麼把我們交在亞摩利人手上，讓他們毀滅我們呢？倒不如讓我們住在約旦河對岸！

約書亞說：『哀啊，主永恆主啊，你為甚麼竟領這人民過約但河、將我們交在亞摩利人手中、使我們滅亡呢？巴不得我們住在約但河東那邊倒還甘心呢！

約書亞曰、噫、主耶和華歟、何為導斯民過約但、付我於亞摩利人手、以滅我乎、我願仍居約但東為幸、

約書亞曰、我主耶和華與、曷導斯民濟約但、付於亞摩哩人手、使我危亡乎。不如我仍居約但東為幸。

約書亞禱曰、主天主歟、何導斯民過約但、付我於亞摩利人手、使我滅亡乎、不如我仍居約但東為幸、

And Joshua said,“ Alas, Sovereign Lord, why did you ever bring this people across the Jordan to deliver us into the hands of the Amorites to destroy us? If only we had been content to stay on the other side of the Jordan!

Joshua said,“ Lord and King, why did you ever bring these people across the Jordan River? Did you want to hand us over to the Amorites? Did you want them to destroy us? I wish we had been content to stay on the other side of the Jordan!

And Joshua said,“ Alas, O Lord God, why have you brought this people over the Jordan at all, to give us into the hands of the Amorites, to destroy us? Would that we had been content to dwell beyond the Jordan!

Then Joshua cried out,“ Oh, Sovereign Lord, why did you bring us across the Jordan River if you are going to let the Amorites kill us? If only we had been content to stay on the other side!

“ Oh, Lord GOD,” Joshua said,“ why did you ever bring these people across the Jordan to hand us over to the Amorites for our destruction? If only we had been content to remain on the other side of the Jordan!

And Joshua said,“ Alas, Lord GOD, why have You brought this people over the Jordan at all— to deliver us into the hand of the Amorites, to destroy us? Oh, that we had been content, and dwelt on the other side of the Jordan!

And Joshua said, Alas, O Lord Jehovah, wherefore hast thou at all brought this people over the Jordan, to deliver us into the hand of the Amorites, to cause us to perish? would that we had been content and dwelt beyond the Jordan!

“ Oh, Lord God,” Joshua said,“ why did You ever bring these people across the Jordan to hand us over to the Amorites for our destruction? If only we had been content to remain on the other side of the Jordan!

And Joshua said, Alas, O Lord GOD, wherefore hast thou at all brought this people over Jordan, to deliver us into the hand of the Amorites, to destroy us? would to God we had been content, and dwelt on the other side Jordan!

Joshua prayed,“ O, Master, LORD! Why did you bring these people across the Jordan to hand us over to the Amorites so they could destroy us?

Joshua said,“ Alas, Lord Yahweh, why have you brought this people over the Jordan at all, to deliver us into the hand of the Amorites, to cause us to perish? I wish that we had been content and lived beyond the Jordan!

Then the king of Israel said,“ It is hopeless! For the Lord has called these three kings to hand them over to Moab!”

So why is the Lord bringing us into this land to fall by the sword? Our wives and our little ones will become plunder! Would it not be better for us to return to Egypt?”

And He* said to them,“ Because of your meager faith; for truly I say to you, if you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain,‘ Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you.”

Then they said to Moses,“ Is it because there were no graves in Egypt that you have taken us away to die in the wilderness? Why have you dealt with us in this way, bringing us out of Egypt?Is this not the word that we spoke to you in Egypt, saying,‘ Leave us alone so that we may serve the Egyptians’? For it would have been better for us to serve the Egyptians than to die in the wilderness!”

Righteous are You, Lord, when I plead my case with You; Nevertheless I would discuss matters of justice with You: Why has the way of the wicked prospered? Why are all those who deal in treachery at ease?You have planted them, they have also taken root; They grow, they have also produced fruit. You are near to their lips But far from their mind.

“ Moses My servant is dead; so now arise, cross this Jordan, you and all this people, to the land which I am giving to them, to the sons of Israel.Every place on which the sole of your foot steps, I have given it to you, just as I spoke to Moses.From the wilderness and this Lebanon, even as far as the great river, the river Euphrates, all the land of the Hittites, and as far as the Great Sea toward the setting of the sun will be your territory.

But the people were thirsty for water there; and they grumbled against Moses and said,“ Why is it that you have you brought us up from Egypt, to kill us and our children and our livestock with thirst?”

And Jesus, aware of this,* said to them,“ Why are you discussing the fact that you have no bread? Do you not yet comprehend or understand? Do you still have your heart hardened?Having eyes, do you not see? And having ears, do you not hear? And do you not remember,

I said in my alarm,“ All people are liars.”

Why then have you brought the Lord’s assembly into this wilderness, for us and our livestock to die here?Why did you make us come up from Egypt, to bring us into this wretched place? It is not a place of grain or figs or vines or pomegranates, nor is there water to drink!”

Then Moses returned to the Lord and said,“ Lord, why have You brought harm to this people? Why did You ever send me?Ever since I came to Pharaoh to speak in Your name, he has done harm to this people, and You have not rescued Your people at all.”

The sons of Israel said to them,“ If only we had died by the Lord’s hand in the land of Egypt, when we sat by the pots of meat, when we ate bread until we were full; for you have brought us out into this wilderness to kill this entire assembly with hunger!”

And Jesus answered and said,“ You unbelieving and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you? How long shall I put up with you? Bring him here to Me.”

and you have forgotten the exhortation which is addressed to you as sons,“ My son, do not regard lightly the discipline of the Lord, Nor faint when you are punished by Him;
