他们侦察回来后对约书亚说：“那里的居民很少，我们不必劳师动众派所有的人上去，只要派两三千人上去便可以攻取艾城。”

返見約書亞曰、艾人維寡、毋勞民眾皆往、二三千人斯可擊之、

返見約書亞曰、往毋庸眾、欲擊埃邑、二三千人斯可矣、埃人維寡、何勞眾往。

返見約書亞曰、不必眾民偕上、祗須二三千人上擊艾、艾人稀少、無庸勞眾民偕往、

When they returned to Joshua, they said,“ Not all the army will have to go up against Ai. Send two or three thousand men to take it and do not weary the whole army, for only a few people live there.”

Then they returned to Joshua. They said,“ The whole army doesn’t have to go up and attack Ai. Send only two or three thousand men. They can take the city. Don’t make the whole army go up there. Only a few people live in Ai.”

And they returned to Joshua and said to him,“ Do not have all the people go up, but let about two or three thousand men go up and attack Ai. Do not make the whole people toil up there, for they are few.”

When they returned, they told Joshua,“ There’s no need for all of us to go up there; it won’t take more than two or three thousand men to attack Ai. Since there are so few of them, don’t make all our people struggle to go up there.”

After returning to Joshua they reported to him,“ Don’t send all the people, but send about two thousand or three thousand men to attack Ai. Since the people of Ai are so few, don’t wear out all our people there.”

Then they returned to Joshua and said to him,“ Do not have all the people go up; have only about two or three thousand men go up and attack Ai; do not trouble all the people there, for they are few.”

And they returned to Joshua and said to him,“ Do not let all the people go up, but let about two or three thousand men go up and attack Ai. Do not weary all the people there, for the people of Ai are few.”

And they returned to Joshua, and said unto him, Let not all the people go up; but let about two or three thousand men go up and smite Ai; make not all the people to toil thither; for they are but few.

After returning to Joshua they reported to him,“ Don’t send all the people, but send about 2,000 or 3,000 men to attack Ai. Since the people of Ai are so few, don’t wear out all our people there.”

And they returned to Joshua, and said unto him, Let not all the people go up; but let about two or three thousand men go up and smite Ai;[ and] make not all the people to labour thither; for they[ are but] few.

They returned and reported to Joshua,“ Don’t send the whole army. About two or three thousand men are adequate to defeat Ai. Don’t tire out the whole army, for Ai is small.”

They returned to Joshua, and said to him,“ Don’t let all the people go up, but let about two or three thousand men go up and strike Ai. Don’t make all the people to toil there, for there are only a few of them.”

我們願你們各人都顯出這樣的殷勤，使你們有滿足的指望，一直到底。並且不懈怠，總要效法那些憑信心和忍耐承受應許的人。

耶穌對眾人說：「你們要努力進窄門。我告訴你們，將來有許多人想要進去，卻是不能。

懶惰人的心願將他殺害，因為他手不肯做工。

所以，我們務必竭力進入那安息，免得有人學那不信從的樣子跌倒了。

懶惰人羨慕，卻無所得；殷勤人必得豐裕。

所以弟兄們，應當更加殷勤，使你們所蒙的恩召和揀選堅定不移。你們若行這幾樣，就永不失腳；

正因這緣故，你們要分外地殷勤；有了信心，又要加上德行；有了德行，又要加上知識；
