他又把艾城的王懸在樹上，直到黃昏的時候；日落的時候，約書亞吩咐人把屍體從樹上拿下來，丟在城門口那裡，又在屍體上堆起了一大堆石頭，這堆石頭一直存到今日。

約書亞和全體以色列人一起把謝拉的曾孫亞干和那銀子、那件衣服、那金條，以及亞干的兒女、牛、驢、羊、帳棚和他所有的一切，都帶上亞割谷去。

他們把押沙龍的屍體抬起來，丟在樹林中的一個大坑裡，又在上面堆起一大堆石頭。以色列眾人都逃跑，各回自己的家去了。

他們把我投在坑中要結束我的性命，又把石頭拋在我身上；

你們要向耶路撒冷說慈愛的話，又要向它宣告：他們的苦難已經滿足了，他們的罪孽已經還清了，他們因著自己的一切罪，已經從耶和華的手裡受到過重的刑罰。”

於是耶和華為了自己的地發熱心，憐恤他的子民。

你們要撕裂你們的心腸，不要撕裂你們的衣服。並要歸向耶和華你們的神，因為他有恩典有憐憫，不輕易發怒，並且有豐盛的慈愛，隨時轉意不降災禍。

他又呼喚我，對我說：“你看，那些出來往北方之地去的，已經在北方之地使我心靈的忿怒平息下來。”

尼哥德慕說：“怎能有這事呢？”耶穌說：“你是以色列人的教師，還不明白這事嗎？

他們把掃羅和他兒子約拿單的骸骨埋葬在便雅憫地的洗拉，在掃羅父親基士的墳墓裡。王所吩咐的一切，眾人都行了。這事以後，神垂聽了人們為那地的禱告。

到了日落的時候，約書亞吩咐人把他們從樹上取下來，丟在他們躲藏過的洞裡，把幾塊大石頭放在洞口；這些石頭一直存到今日。
