Then Joshua, together with all Israel, took Achan son of Zerah, the silver, the robe, the gold bar, his sons and daughters, his cattle, donkeys and sheep, his tent and all that he had, to the Valley of Achor.

It then went up to Debir from the Valley of Achor, turning northward to Gilgal( which is opposite the Pass of Adummim south of the valley), crossed to the waters of En Shemesh and extended to En Rogel.

Sharon will become a pasture for sheep, and the Valley of Achor a place where cattle graze; they will belong to my people, who seek me.

Those who long to be rich, however, stumble into temptation and a trap and many senseless and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction.For the love of money is the root of all evils. The wealth that he consumed he vomits up, God will make him throw it out of his stomach.

“‘ See, I strike my hands together at the dishonest profit you have made, and at the bloodshed they have done among you.Can your heart endure, or can your hands be strong when I deal with you? I, the LORD, have spoken, and I will do it!

But the Israelites disobeyed the command about the city’s riches. Achan son of Carmi, son of Zabdi, son of Zerah, from the tribe of Judah, stole some of the riches. The LORD was furious with the Israelites.

Here is a misfortune on earth that I have seen: Wealth hoarded by its owner to his own misery.

But be careful when you are setting apart the riches for the LORD. If you take any of it, you will make the Israelite camp subject to annihilation and cause a disaster.
