Woe to those who deeply hide their counsel from Yahweh, and whose deeds are in the dark, and who say,“ Who sees us?” and“ Who knows us?”

Then the lust, when it has conceived, bears sin. The sin, when it is full grown, produces death.

You shall burn the engraved images of their gods with fire. You shall not covet the silver or the gold that is on them, nor take it for yourself, lest you be snared in it; for it is an abomination to Yahweh your God.

At evening, he went out to lie on his bed with the servants of his lord, but didn’t go down to his house.In the morning, David wrote a letter to Joab, and sent it by the hand of Uriah.He wrote in the letter, saying,“ Send Uriah to the forefront of the hottest battle, and retreat from him, that he may be struck, and die.”When Joab kept watch on the city, he assigned Uriah to the place where he knew that valiant men were.The men of the city went out, and fought with Joab. Some of the people fell, even of David’s servants; and Uriah the Hittite died also.

What shall we say then? Is the law sin? May it never be! However, I wouldn’t have known sin, except through the law. For I wouldn’t have known coveting, unless the law had said,“ You shall not covet.”But sin, finding occasion through the commandment, produced in me all kinds of coveting. For apart from the law, sin is dead.

At evening, David arose from his bed and walked on the roof of the king’s house. From the roof, he saw a woman bathing, and the woman was very beautiful to look at.

“ Because you have said,‘ We have made a covenant with death, and we are in agreement with Sheol. When the overflowing scourge passes through, it won’t come to us; for we have made lies our refuge, and we have hidden ourselves under falsehood.’”

But Gehazi the servant of Elisha the man of God, said,“ Behold, my master has spared this Naaman the Syrian, in not receiving at his hands that which he brought. As Yahweh lives, I will run after him, and take something from him.”So Gehazi followed after Naaman. When Naaman saw one running after him, he came down from the chariot to meet him, and said,“ Is all well?”He said,“ All is well. My master has sent me, saying,‘ Behold, even now two young men of the sons of the prophets have come to me from the hill country of Ephraim. Please give them a talent of silver and two changes of clothing.’”Naaman said,“ Be pleased to take two talents.” He urged him, and bound two talents of silver in two bags, with two changes of clothing, and laid them on two of his servants; and they carried them before him.When he came to the hill, he took them from their hand, and stored them in the house. Then he let the men go, and they departed.But he went in, and stood before his master. Elisha said to him,“ Where did you come from, Gehazi?” He said,“ Your servant went nowhere.”He said to him,“ Didn’t my heart go with you, when the man turned from his chariot to meet you? Is it a time to receive money, and to receive garments, and olive groves and vineyards, and sheep and cattle, and male servants and female servants?Therefore the leprosy of Naaman will cling to you and to your offspring forever.” He went out from his presence a leper, as white as snow.

Be free from the love of money, content with such things as you have, for he has said,“ I will in no way leave you, neither will I in any way forsake you.”

But there is nothing covered up that will not be revealed, nor hidden that will not be known.

The beginning of his kingdom was Babel, Erech, Accad, and Calneh, in the land of Shinar.

“ I made a covenant with my eyes, how then should I look lustfully at a young woman?

Woe to him who gets an evil gain for his house, that he may set his nest on high, that he may be delivered from the hand of evil!

Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it is the wellspring of life.

but I tell you that everyone who gazes at a woman to lust after her has committed adultery with her already in his heart.If your right eye causes you to stumble, pluck it out and throw it away from you. Don’t look at the wine when it is red, when it sparkles in the cup, when it goes down smoothly.

When the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was a delight to the eyes, and that the tree was to be desired to make one wise, she took some of its fruit, and ate. Then she gave some to her husband with her, and he ate it, too.

Know this for sure, that no sexually immoral person, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, has any inheritance in the Kingdom of Christ and God.

Put to death therefore your members which are on the earth: sexual immorality, uncleanness, depraved passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry.

A stingy man hurries after riches, and doesn’t know that poverty waits for him.

God’s sons saw that men’s daughters were beautiful, and they took any that they wanted for themselves as wives.

After these things, Naboth the Jezreelite had a vineyard, which was in Jezreel, next to the palace of Ahab king of Samaria.Ahab spoke to Naboth, saying,“ Give me your vineyard, that I may have it for a garden of herbs, because it is near my house; and I will give you for it a better vineyard than it. Or, if it seems good to you, I will give you its worth in money.”

But those who are determined to be rich fall into a temptation, a snare, and many foolish and harmful lusts, such as drown men in ruin and destruction.For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some have been led astray from the faith in their greed, and have pierced themselves through with many sorrows.
