When I saw in the plunder a beautiful robe from Babylonia, two hundred shekels of silver and a bar of gold weighing fifty shekels, I coveted them and took them. They are hidden in the ground inside my tent, with the silver underneath.”

I saw a beautiful robe from Babylonia among the things we had taken. I saw five pounds of silver. And I saw a gold bar that weighed 20 ounces. I wanted them, so I took them. I hid them in the ground inside my tent. The silver is on the bottom.”

於是對眾人說：「你們要謹慎自守，免去一切的貪心，因為人的生命不在乎家道豐富。」

求你叫我轉眼不看虛假，又叫我在你的道中生活。

禍哉！那些向耶和華深藏謀略的，又在暗中行事，說：誰看見我們呢？誰知道我們呢？

私慾既懷了胎，就生出罪來；罪既長成，就生出死來。

他們雕刻的神像，你們要用火焚燒；其上的金銀，你不可貪圖，也不可收取，免得你因此陷入網羅；這原是耶和華－你神所憎惡的。

他們離棄正路，就走差了，隨從比珥之子巴蘭的路。巴蘭就是那貪愛不義之工價的先知，

禍哉，那些在牀上圖謀罪孽、造作奸惡的！天一發亮，因手有能力就行出來了。他們貪圖田地就佔據，貪圖房屋便奪取；他們欺壓人，霸佔房屋和產業。

「不可貪戀人的房屋；也不可貪戀人的妻子、僕婢、牛驢，並他一切所有的。」

至於淫亂並一切污穢，或是貪婪，在你們中間連提都不可，方合聖徒的體統。

大衛差人到約押那裏，說：「你打發赫人烏利亞到我這裏來。」約押就打發烏利亞去見大衛。烏利亞來了，大衛問約押好，也問兵好，又問爭戰的事怎樣。大衛對烏利亞說：「你回家去，洗洗腳吧！」烏利亞出了王宮，隨後王送他一分食物。烏利亞卻和他主人的僕人一同睡在宮門外，沒有回家去。有人告訴大衛說：「烏利亞沒有回家去。」大衛就問烏利亞說：「你從遠路上來，為甚麼不回家去呢？」烏利亞對大衛說：「約櫃和以色列與猶大兵都住在棚裏，我主約押和我主的僕人都在田野安營，我豈可回家吃喝、與妻子同寢呢？我敢在王面前起誓：我決不行這事！」大衛吩咐烏利亞說：「你今日仍住在這裏，明日我打發你去。」於是烏利亞那日和次日住在耶路撒冷。大衛召了烏利亞來，叫他在自己面前吃喝，使他喝醉。到了晚上，烏利亞出去與他主的僕人一同住宿，還沒有回到家裏去。次日早晨，大衛寫信與約押，交烏利亞隨手帶去。信內寫着說：「要派烏利亞前進，到陣勢極險之處，你們便退後，使他被殺。」約押圍城的時候，知道敵人那裏有勇士，便將烏利亞派在那裏。城裏的人出來和約押打仗；大衛的僕人中有幾個被殺的，赫人烏利亞也死了。

這樣，我們可說甚麼呢？律法是罪嗎？斷乎不是！只是非因律法，我就不知何為罪。非律法說「不可起貪心」，我就不知何為貪心。然而，罪趁着機會，就藉着誡命叫諸般的貪心在我裏頭發動；因為沒有律法，罪是死的。

一日，太陽平西，大衛從牀上起來，在王宮的平頂上遊行，看見一個婦人沐浴，容貌甚美，

你們曾說：我們與死亡立約，與陰間結盟；敵軍如水漲漫經過的時候，必不臨到我們；因我們以謊言為避所，在虛假以下藏身。

神人以利沙的僕人基哈西心裏說：「我主人不願從這亞蘭人乃縵手裏受他帶來的禮物，我指着永生的耶和華起誓，我必跑去追上他，向他要些。」於是基哈西追趕乃縵。乃縵看見有人追趕，就急忙下車迎着他，說：「都平安嗎？」說：「都平安。我主人打發我來說：『剛才有兩個少年人，是先知門徒，從以法蓮山地來見我，請你賜他們一他連得銀子，兩套衣裳。』」乃縵說：「請受二他連得」；再三地請受，便將二他連得銀子裝在兩個口袋裏，又將兩套衣裳交給兩個僕人；他們就在基哈西前頭擡着走。到了山岡，基哈西從他們手中接過來，放在屋裏，打發他們回去。基哈西進去，站在他主人面前。以利沙問他說：「基哈西你從哪裏來？」回答說：「僕人沒有往哪裏去。」以利沙對他說：「那人下車轉回迎你的時候，我的心豈沒有去呢？這豈是受銀子、衣裳、買橄欖園、葡萄園、牛羊、僕婢的時候呢？因此，乃縵的大痲瘋必沾染你和你的後裔，直到永遠。」基哈西從以利沙面前退出去，就長了大痲瘋，像雪那樣白。

你們存心不可貪愛錢財，要以自己所有的為足；因為主曾說：「我總不撇下你，也不丟棄你。」

掩蓋的事沒有不露出來的；隱藏的事沒有不被人知道的。

他國的起頭是巴別、以力、亞甲、甲尼，都在示拿地。

我與眼睛立約，怎能戀戀瞻望處女呢？

為本家積蓄不義之財、在高處搭窩、指望免災的有禍了！

你要保守你心，勝過保守一切，因為一生的果效是由心發出。

只是我告訴你們，凡看見婦女就動淫念的，這人心裏已經與她犯姦淫了。若是你的右眼叫你跌倒，就剜出來丟掉，寧可失去百體中的一體，不叫全身丟在地獄裏。

酒發紅，在杯中閃爍，你不可觀看，雖然下咽舒暢，終久是咬你如蛇，刺你如毒蛇。

於是女人見那棵樹的果子好作食物，也悅人的眼目，且是可喜愛的，能使人有智慧，就摘下果子來吃了，又給她丈夫，她丈夫也吃了。

因為你們確實地知道，無論是淫亂的，是污穢的，是有貪心的，在基督和神的國裏都是無分的。有貪心的，就與拜偶像的一樣。

所以，要治死你們在地上的肢體，就如淫亂、污穢、邪情、惡慾，和貪婪（貪婪就與拜偶像一樣）。

人有惡眼想要急速發財，卻不知窮乏必臨到他身。

神的兒子們看見人的女子美貌，就隨意挑選，娶來為妻。

這事以後，又有一事。耶斯列人拿伯在耶斯列有一個葡萄園，靠近撒馬利亞王亞哈的宮。亞哈對拿伯說：「你將你的葡萄園給我作菜園，因為是靠近我的宮；我就把更好的葡萄園換給你，或是你要銀子，我就按着價值給你。」

但那些想要發財的人，就陷在迷惑、落在網羅和許多無知有害的私慾裏，叫人沉在敗壞和滅亡中。貪財是萬惡之根。有人貪戀錢財，就被引誘離了真道，用許多愁苦把自己刺透了。
