And the Philistines assembled themselves together to fight with Israel, thirty thousand chariots, and six thousand horsemen, and people as the sand which is on the sea- shore in multitude: and they came up, and encamped in Michmash, eastward of Beth- aven.

So Jehovah saved Israel that day: and the battle passed over by Beth- aven.

For by wise guidance thou shalt make thy war; And in the multitude of counsellors there is safety.

Every purpose is established by counsel; And by wise guidance make thou war.

And he removed from thence unto the mountain on the east of Beth- el, and pitched his tent, having Beth- el on the west, and Ai on the east: and there he builded an altar unto Jehovah, and called upon the name of Jehovah.

Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves.

The children of Benjamin also dwelt from Geba onward, at Michmash and Aija, and at Beth- el and the towns thereof,

And he called the name of that place Beth- el: but the name of the city was Luz at the first.

the king of Jericho, one; the king of Ai, which is beside Bethel, one;

Look therefore carefully how ye walk, not as unwise, but as wise;

And Joshua the son of Nun sent out of Shittim two men as spies secretly, saying, Go, view the land, and Jericho. And they went and came into the house of a harlot whose name was Rahab, and lay there.
