永恆主向以色列人發怒，就把他們交在搶掠的人手中，這些人就搶擄他們；他又把他們交付於他們四圍的仇敵手中，以致他們在仇敵面前再也站不住。

因為你不是喜愛邪惡的上帝；壞人不能寄居在你那裏。狂傲之人不能在你眼前站着；作孽之人都是你所恨惡的。

惡人雖沒有人追趕，也逃跑；義人卻坦然無懼、像少壯獅子。

就使他們把兒女養大，我也必使他們喪失兒子，一個不留。我離開他們時，他們就有禍了！

耶路撒冷啊，你須要接受管教，免得我跟你疏遠，免得我使你荒涼，成為無人居住之地。』

可憎惡的東西你不可帶進家裏，以免使你成了該被毁滅歸神的、像那東西一樣；你要絕對憎它，非常厭惡它，因為那是該被毁滅歸神的。

你眼目清潔不看壞事，你是不能逕看着毒害舉動而不理的！為甚麼你逕看着詭詐不忠的人而不理？惡人吞滅了比自己正義的、你為甚麼靜默不動？

哈該又說：『若有因死人而不潔淨的觸着這些東西的任何一件，這東西算為不潔淨麼？』祭司回答說：『該算為不潔淨。』於是哈該應聲地說：『永恆主發神諭說：在我面前這人民也是這樣，這國也是這樣；他們手下的各樣農作物都是這樣：他們在這裏所供獻的都是不潔淨。

『若是這人民或神言人或祭司問你說：「永恆主的神託是甚麼？」你要對他們說：「你們就是永恆主所托起的，因此永恆主發神諭說：我必丟棄你們。」

乃是你們的罪孽使你們跟你們的上帝隔絕，而你們的罪使他掩面不聽你們啊。

永恆主的使者向以色列眾人說這話的時候，人民就放聲而哭。

今日你們竟轉離了永恆主呀？今日你們既背叛了永恆主，明日他就必震怒以色列全會眾了。不過你們所擁為產業之地如果不潔淨，你們儘可以過來永恆主所擁為產業之地、他帳幕所居的地方，在我們中間來擁得產業啊；卻不可背叛永恆主，也不可背棄我們，而在永恆主我們的上帝的祭壇以外、為自己築了祭壇啊。從前謝拉的曾孫亞干豈不是在該被毁滅歸神之物上不忠實，以致有上帝的震怒臨到以色列全會眾麼？那人在他的罪愆中死亡，還不只是他一人而已呢。」』
