Then said Haggai, If[ one that is] unclean by a dead body touch any of these, shall it be unclean? And the priests answered and said, It shall be unclean.Then answered Haggai, and said, So[ is] this people, and so[ is] this nation before me, saith the LORD; and so[ is] every work of their hands; and that which they offer there[ is] unclean.

And when this people, or the prophet, or a priest, shall ask thee, saying, What[ is] the burden of the LORD? thou shalt then say unto them, What burden? I will even forsake you, saith the LORD.

But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid[ his] face from you, that he will not hear.

And it came to pass, when the angel of the LORD spake these words unto all the children of Israel, that the people lifted up their voice, and wept.

But that ye must turn away this day from following the LORD? and it will be,[ seeing] ye rebel to day against the LORD, that tomorrow he will be wroth with the whole congregation of Israel.Notwithstanding, if the land of your possession[ be] unclean,[ then] pass ye over unto the land of the possession of the LORD, wherein the LORD’S tabernacle dwelleth, and take possession among us: but rebel not against the LORD, nor rebel against us, in building you an altar beside the altar of the LORD our God.Did not Achan the son of Zerah commit a trespass in the accursed thing, and wrath fell on all the congregation of Israel? and that man perished not alone in his iniquity.
