But the Israelites were unfaithful in regard to the devoted things; Achan son of Karmi, the son of Zimri, the son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah, took some of them. So the Lord’s anger burned against Israel.

But the Israelites weren’t faithful to the Lord. They didn’t destroy what had been set apart to him. So they did not do what they had been told to do. Achan had taken some of those things. So the Lord became very angry with Israel. Achan was the son of Karmi. Karmi was the son of Zimri. And Zimri was the son of Zerah. Achan and all his relatives were from the tribe of Judah.

But the people of Israel broke faith in regard to the devoted things, for Achan the son of Carmi, son of Zabdi, son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah, took some of the devoted things. And the anger of the Lord burned against the people of Israel.

But Israel violated the instructions about the things set apart for the Lord. A man named Achan had stolen some of these dedicated things, so the Lord was very angry with the Israelites. Achan was the son of Carmi, a descendant of Zimri son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah.

The Israelites, however, were unfaithful regarding the things set apart for destruction. Achan son of Carmi, son of Zabdi, son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah, took some of what was set apart, and the LORD’s anger burned against the Israelites.

But the sons of Israel acted unfaithfully regarding the things designated for destruction, for Achan, the son of Carmi, the son of Zabdi, the son of Zerah, from the tribe of Judah, took some of the designated things; therefore the anger of the Lord burned against the sons of Israel.

謝拉的兒子是心利、以探、希幔、甲各和大拉，共五人。迦米的兒子是亞迦，他在當滅的物上犯了罪，連累了以色列人。

這城和其中所有的都要永獻給耶和華作當毀滅的，只有妓女喇合與她家中所有的可以存活，因為她隱藏了我們所派的使者。但你們務必謹慎，不可取那當滅的物，免得你們受詛咒，取了那當滅的物，使以色列全營成為詛咒而遭受災禍。

這件事在神眼中看為惡，神就降災給以色列。

亞干回答約書亞說：「我實在得罪了耶和華－以色列的神。這是我所做的：我在所奪取的財物中看見一件美好的示拿外袍，二百舍客勒銀子，一條重五十舍客勒的金子。我貪愛這些物件，就拿去了。看哪，這些東西都埋在我帳棚內的地裏，銀子在外袍底下。」

「耶和華全會眾這樣說：『你們今日離棄耶和華不跟從他，干犯以色列的神，悖逆耶和華，為自己築了一座壇，你們所犯的是何等的罪！

要謹慎，免得有人失去了神的恩典；免得有毒根生出來擾亂你們，因而使許多人沾染污穢，免得有人淫亂，或不敬虔如以掃，他因一點點食物把自己長子的名分賣了。

說：「我的神啊，我抱愧蒙羞，不敢向你－我的神仰面，因為我們的罪孽多到滅頂，我們的罪惡滔天。

你們今日竟然離棄耶和華不跟從他！你們今日既然悖逆耶和華，明日他必向以色列全會眾發怒。

耶和華的怒氣又向以色列發作，激起大衛來對付他們，說：「去，數點以色列人和猶大人。」

船上的人彼此說：「來吧，我們來抽籤，看看這災難臨到我們是因誰的緣故。」於是他們就抽籤，抽出約拿來。

他們離棄耶和華－他們列祖神的殿，去事奉亞舍拉和偶像；因他們這罪，就有憤怒臨到猶大和耶路撒冷。

智慧勝過打仗的兵器；但一個罪人能敗壞許多善事。

我確實聽說在你們中間有淫亂的事；這種淫亂連外邦人中也沒有，就是有人和他的繼母同居。你們還自高自大！你們不是該覺得痛心，把做這事的人從你們中間趕出去嗎？我人雖然不在你們那裏，心卻在你們那裏，好像親自與你們同在。我奉我們主耶穌的名，已經判斷了做這事的人。你們聚會的時候，我的心和你們同在。你們藉着我們主耶穌的權能，

主啊，你是公義的，但我們猶大人和耶路撒冷的居民，並你所趕到各國的以色列眾人，不論遠近，因為背叛了你，臉上蒙羞，正如今日一樣。
