他們回答約書亞說：「因為確實有人告訴你的僕人，耶和華－你的上帝曾吩咐他的僕人摩西，把這全地賜給你們，並要在你們面前除滅這地所有的居民。我們因你們的緣故很怕自己喪命，就做了這事。現在，看哪，我們在你手中，你看怎樣待我們是好的，是對的，就這樣做吧！」

從那些城鎮所奪的財物和牲畜，以色列人都取為自己的掠物。至於所有的人，他們都用刀殺了，直到滅盡；凡有氣息的，沒有留下一個。

現在你要去攻打亞瑪力人，滅盡他們所有的，不可憐惜他們，將男女、孩童、吃奶的，以及牛、羊、駱駝和驢全都殺死。』」

你要吞滅耶和華－你的上帝交給你的各民族，你的眼目不可顧惜他們。你也不可事奉他們的神明，因為這必成為你的圈套。
