有一位大力的天使，把一块好像大磨石一样的石头，举起来抛在海里，说：“巴比伦大城也必这样被猛力地抛下去，决不能再找到了！

在那天，约书亚占领了玛基大，用刀击杀了那城的人和那城的王，把城中所有的人完全毁灭，不容一人逃脱；他对待玛基大王就像对待耶利哥王一样。

先知对王说：“耶和华这样说：因为你把我要灭绝的人从你手中放走，所以要你替他偿命。要你的人民抵偿他的人民。”

他们回答约书亚，说：“因为你的仆人确实地听见，耶和华你的神曾经吩咐他的仆人摩西，要把这整片土地赐给你们，并且要在你们面前把这地上所有的居民都消灭，因此，我们因你们的缘故，很怕丧命，才行了这事。现在，你看，我们都在你的手里，你看怎样处置我们算为好、算为对，就怎样行吧。”

耶和华你的神把他们交给你，你打败了他们的时候，你要完全毁灭他们，不可与他们立约，也不可恩待他们。不可与他们通婚，不可把你的女儿嫁给他们的儿子，也不可为你的儿子娶他们的女儿。

现在你要去攻打亚玛力人，彻底毁灭他们所有的一切，不可怜惜他们。无论男女、孩童，或吃奶的婴儿，牛羊、骆驼、驴子，都要杀死。’”

耶和华你的神交给你的所有民族，你都要把他们消灭；你的眼不可怜惜他们；你也不可事奉他们的神，因为这必成为你的网罗。
