Now this is why he did so: All those who came out of Egypt— all the men of military age— died in the wilderness on the way after leaving Egypt.

Here is why Joshua circumcised them. All the men who came out of Egypt had died. They died while they were wandering through the Sinai Desert. They were the men old enough to serve in the army.

With whom was God angry for forty years? Wasn’t it with those who sinned, whose bodies fell in the wilderness?And to whom did he swear that they would not enter his rest, if not to those who disobeyed?So we see that they were unable to enter because of unbelief.
