Now when Joshua was near Jericho, he looked up and saw a man standing in front of him with a drawn sword in his hand. Joshua went up to him and asked,“ Are you for us or for our enemies?”

我使必導爾入亞摩哩、赫、比哩洗、迦南、希未、耶布士諸族之地、翦滅其眾。

馬挪亞起、隨婦詣其人、曰、昔與婦言者、果爾與。曰、是也。

雅各獨留、遇一人、與之角力、迄於黎明。相角之時、其人自知不勝、擊雅各髀傷之、曰天將明矣、請釋我去。雅各曰、不為我祝嘏、必不容爾去。曰爾何名。曰、雅各。曰今以後、不祇名雅各、更名以色列、蓋爾得志於上帝前、與人爭無不勝。雅各曰、請以爾名告我。曰、曷問我名。遂在彼錫嘏。雅各名其地為便以利曰、我與上帝晤對、而覿其面、我命尚其可保。

撒加利亞曰、我於夤夜、見有貌若人、乘赤馬、立於山麓、岡拈樹下、其後有乘赤黃白馬者、

耶穌升時、眾注目仰天、有二人、白衣、傍立、

命使者以刃入鞘。

大闢見耶和華之使者、立於空中、拔刃在手、直指耶路撒冷、則率長老、俱衣麻服、俯伏於地。大闢籲上帝曰、核民數者、非我乎、我犯罪行惡、何與群羊、請我上帝耶和華、攻我及我全家、毋降災於斯眾。

馬挪亞祈於耶和華曰、我主與、上帝之僕、爾適所遣者、容之復至、將生之子、若何相待、請其教我。上帝允所祈、婦坐於田、使者就之、夫不在側、

耶和華諭約書亞曰、我以耶利哥及王、與勁旅、悉畀於爾。

我仰觀異象、見牡綿羊立於河濱、先後生二角、其角甚高、後生之角、較先生者尤高聳、

雅各遙見以掃率四百人至、遂區別群子、令利亞拉結及二婢率之。

則語其妻曰、我儕睹上帝、必致死亡。

以掃見婦與子、問為誰。曰、蒙上帝恩、賜子與僕。

大闢出迓、告曰、如爾心懷平康、欲來助我、則我與爾和好。如欲欺我、付無辜於敵手、則望列祖之上帝、加以督責。武士之魁亞馬賽、為神所感、對曰、我欲歸耶西之子大闢、望上帝祐爾、願爾與助爾者俱獲平康。大闢接之、使為軍長。
