As soon as all the kings of the Amorites who were beyond the Jordan to the west, and all the kings of the Canaanites who were by the sea, heard that the Lord had dried up the waters of the Jordan for the people of Israel until they had crossed over, their hearts melted and there was no longer any spirit in them because of the people of Israel.

When all the Amorite kings west of the Jordan and all the Canaanite kings who lived along the Mediterranean coast heard how the Lord had dried up the Jordan River so the people of Israel could cross, they lost heart and were paralyzed with fear because of them.

When all the Amorite kings across the Jordan to the west and all the Canaanite kings near the sea heard how the LORD had dried up the water of the Jordan before the Israelites until they had crossed over, they lost heart and their courage failed because of the Israelites.

Now it came about when all the kings of the Amorites who were beyond the Jordan to the west, and all the kings of the Canaanites who were by the sea, heard how the Lord had dried up the waters of the Jordan before the sons of Israel until they had crossed, that their hearts melted, and there was no spirit in them any longer because of the sons of Israel.

And it came to pass, when all the kings of the Amorites, that were beyond the Jordan westward, and all the kings of the Canaanites, that were by the sea, heard how that Jehovah had dried up the waters of the Jordan from before the children of Israel, until we were passed over, that their heart melted, neither was there spirit in them any more, because of the children of Israel.

When all the Amorite kings across the Jordan to the west and all the Canaanite kings near the sea heard how the Lord had dried up the waters of the Jordan before the Israelites until they had crossed over, they lost heart and their courage failed because of the Israelites.

When all the Amorite kings on the west side of the Jordan and all the Canaanite kings along the seacoast heard how the LORD had dried up the water of the Jordan before the Israelites while they crossed, they lost their courage and could not even breathe for fear of the Israelites.

When all the kings of the Amorites, who were beyond the Jordan westward, and all the kings of the Canaanites, who were by the sea, heard how Yahweh had dried up the waters of the Jordan from before the children of Israel until we had crossed over, their heart melted, and there was no more spirit in them, because of the children of Israel.

有亞瑪力人住在南地；赫人、耶布斯人、亞摩利人住在山地；迦南人住在海邊和約旦河沿岸。”

桌上的食物、臣僕的座位、僕人的侍候、他們的服飾、王的酒政和王在耶和華的殿獻上的燔祭，就驚奇得不知所措。

對他們二人說：“我知道耶和華已經把這地賜給你們了，你們使我們十分害怕，這地所有的居民都在你們面前膽戰心驚。因為我們聽見你們從埃及出來的時候，耶和華怎樣使紅海的水在你們面前乾了，以及你們怎樣對待約旦河東亞摩利人的兩個王西宏和噩，把他們完全消滅。我們聽見了，就都心裡驚怕；沒有一人再有勇氣在你們面前站立；因為耶和華你們的神是天上、也是地上的神。

我必在你面前打發大黃蜂，把希未人、迦南人、赫人，都從你面前驅逐出去。

就是亞摩利王西宏、巴珊王噩，和迦南列國的王。

你要說：‘主耶和華對耶路撒冷這樣說：你的根源和出生地是在迦南地；你的父親是亞摩利人，你的母親是赫人。

因為迦薩必被拋棄，亞實基倫必成荒場，亞實突的居民必在晌午被趕走；以革倫必連根拔起來。住在沿海地帶的人，基列提的國民哪！你們有禍了。這是耶和華攻擊你們的話：“非利士人之地迦南啊！我必毀滅你，使你那裡沒有人居住。沿海的地必成為草場、牧人的洞穴、羊群的圈欄。

他們的王，一個是耶利哥王，一個是伯特利旁邊的艾城王，一個是耶路撒冷王，一個是希伯崙王，一個是耶末王，一個是拉吉王，一個是伊磯倫王，一個是基色王，一個是底璧王，一個是基德王，一個是何珥瑪王，一個是亞拉得王，一個是立拿王，一個是亞杜蘭王，一個是瑪基大王，一個是伯特利王，一個是他普亞王，一個是希弗王，一個是亞弗王，一個是拉沙崙王，一個是瑪頓王，一個是夏瑣王，一個是伸崙．米崙王，一個是押煞王，一個是他納王，一個是米吉多王，一個是基低斯王，一個是靠近迦密的約念王，一個是多珥山地的多珥王，一個是吉甲的戈印王，一個是得撒王，共計三十一個王。

看哪！列王會合，一同前進。他們一見這城，就驚惶，慌忙逃跑。他們在那裡戰慄恐懼；他們痛苦好像婦人分娩時一樣。

他們因為害怕她所受的痛苦，就遠遠地站著，說：‘有禍了！有禍了！這大城，巴比倫，這堅固的城啊！一時之間你的審判就來到了！’

我不是在他們面前把亞摩利人消滅了嗎？亞摩利人雖像香柏樹高大，像橡樹那樣堅固；我卻要滅絕它樹上的果子，拔除樹下的根。

原來基遍人不是以色列人，而是亞摩利人中餘剩的後人。以色列人曾經起誓與他們立約，但掃羅卻為以色列人和猶大人發熱心，設法要擊殺他們。王把基遍人召了來，對他們說話。

因此耶和華把他們交在迦南王耶賓手中，耶賓那時在夏瑣作王；他的軍長西西拉，住在夏羅設歌印。

到了早晨，拿八酒醒了，他的妻子才把這些事告訴他，他就嚇得魂不附體，立刻中風癱瘓了。

就臉色大變，心意驚惶，兩腳無力，雙膝彼此相碰。

萬民聽見，就必戰抖；疼痛恐懼抓住了非利士的居民。那時，以東的族長驚惶，摩押的英雄被戰兢抓住，所有迦南的居民都膽戰心寒。

現在耶和華以色列的神，已經把亞摩利人從他的子民以色列人面前趕走了，你竟要佔有這地嗎？

約書亞死後，以色列人求問耶和華說：“誰要為我們首先去攻打迦南人，與他們作戰呢？”

迦南生了長子西頓，又生赫，以及耶布斯人、亞摩利人、革迦撒人、希未人、亞基人、西尼人、亞瓦底人、洗瑪利人、哈馬人，後來迦南人的宗族分散了。迦南人的境界是從西頓伸向基拉耳，直到迦薩；又伸向所多瑪、蛾摩拉、押瑪、洗扁，直到拉沙。

如果你們認為事奉耶和華不好，那麼今日你們就可以選擇你們所要事奉的：是你們列祖在大河那邊事奉的神呢，還是你們現在所住亞摩利人之地的神呢？至於我和我家，我們必事奉耶和華。”

他們如果問你：‘你為甚麼歎息呢？’你就要回答：‘是因為那將要來到的消息；人人都必心慌意亂，手都發軟，精神衰頹，他們的膝都像水一般的柔弱。看哪！它要來到了。這事一定要成就。這是主耶和華的宣告。’”

山地也要歸給你們，那裡雖然是森林，你們可以砍伐，開闢的土地都歸給你們，直到它最遠的邊界；迦南人雖然擁有鐵車，勢力強大，你們也能把他們趕出去。”

“完成這些事以後，眾領袖前來見我，說：‘以色列民、祭司和利未人沒有從當地的民族中分別出來，他們隨從迦南人、赫人、比利洗人、耶布斯人、亞捫人、摩押人、埃及人和亞摩利人行可憎的事。

哀號吧！因為耶和華的日子近了，這日子來到，好像毀滅從全能者那裡來到一樣。因此，各人的手都必發軟，各人也必心驚膽戰。他們都要驚惶失措，疼痛與痛苦必抓住他們；他們必絞痛，像生產中的婦人一樣。他們在驚愕中彼此對望，面色像火燄一般。

就在那時候，耶和華與亞伯蘭立約說：“我已經把這地賜給你的後裔了，就是從埃及河直到幼發拉底河之地；就是基尼人、基尼洗人、甲摩尼人、赫人、比利洗人、利乏音人、亞摩利人、迦南人、革迦撒人、耶布斯人之地。”

現在我把從前用刀和弓，從亞摩利人手中奪過來的那塊山地賜給你，使你比眾兄弟多得一份。”

亞伯蘭穿過那地，到了示劍的地方，摩利的橡樹那裡。當時，迦南人住在那地。

他留下的就是非利士人的五個首領，和所有迦南人、西頓人，以及住在黎巴嫩山上的希未人，從巴力．黑門山直到哈馬口。

可是瑪拿西的子孫卻不能把這些城的居民趕走，迦南人決意住在那地。
