On the tenth day of the first month the people went up from the Jordan and camped at Gilgal on the eastern border of Jericho.

The men of Gibeon sent to Joshua at the camp at Gilgal, saying,“ Don’t abandon your servants! Come up to us quickly and save us! Help us; for all the kings of the Amorites that dwell in the hill country have gathered together against us.”

“ This month shall be to you the beginning of months. It shall be the first month of the year to you.Speak to all the congregation of Israel, saying,‘ On the tenth day of this month, they shall take to them every man a lamb, according to their fathers’ houses, a lamb for a household;

Then Samuel said to the people,“ Come! Let’s go to Gilgal, and renew the kingdom there.”All the people went to Gilgal; and there they made Saul king before Yahweh in Gilgal. There they offered sacrifices of peace offerings before Yahweh; and there Saul and all the men of Israel rejoiced greatly.

“ Go to Bethel, and sin; to Gilgal, and sin more. Bring your sacrifices every morning, your tithes every three days,

Samuel said,“ As your sword has made women childless, so your mother will be childless among women!” Then Samuel cut Agag in pieces before Yahweh in Gilgal.

Joshua returned, and all Israel with him, to the camp to Gilgal.
