耶和華諭約書亞曰、昔埃及人、凌辱爾曹、今我為汝洒恥、故名地曰吉甲、至今其名尚存。○

我民當憶古昔摩押王巴勒謀害爾曹、庇耳子巴蘭與之黨同、自失亭至吉甲、耶和華之恩澤、爾其念之勿忘。

毋求伯特利毋往吉甲、毋至別是巴、蓋吉甲人必見遷移、伯特利必歸烏有、

其界又至底必、自亞割谷北、至吉甲、亞都冥岡相對之所、在河南濱、延宴示麥泉、至宴羅結、

基遍人遣使至吉甲營、見約書亞、曰、速至助我、勿緩、蓋居山中之亞摩哩王、集以攻我。

爾必以是月為正月、而作歲首。當告以色列會眾、曰、是月十日、各家必取一羔。

撒母耳謂民曰、盍往吉甲、復建其國。民往吉甲、立掃羅為王、獻酬恩之祭於耶和華前、掃羅與以色列人、欣喜不勝。

耶和華、曰、以色列族爾往伯特利常干罪戾、在吉甲屢蹈愆尤、仍獻日祭、三年一次、十分取一、獻酬恩之祭與酵、樂輸之物、炫示於眾、蓋爾以此為悅。

撒母耳曰、爾以刃使眾人之母絶其嗣、故爾之母亦必喪其子。撒母耳在吉甲、於耶和華前、殺亞甲而剖其體。

約書亞遂率以色列眾歸吉甲營。
