And as for you, command the priests who bear the ark of the covenant,‘ When you come to the brink of the waters of the Jordan, you shall stand still in the Jordan.’”

Give this command to the priests who carry the Ark of the Covenant:‘ When you reach the banks of the Jordan River, take a few steps into the river and stop there.’”

「你們看見做祭司的利未人抬著你們上帝耶和華的約櫃出發時，就要起身跟在後面。

以色列人過河的時候，抬耶和華約櫃的祭司站立在河中間的乾地上，直到所有人都從乾地上過了約旦河。

摩西對百姓說：「你們不用害怕，站穩了，看耶和華用什麼方法解救你們。你們再也看不到你們今天看到的埃及人了。

希西迦下令在壇上獻燔祭。開始獻燔祭時，伴隨著號角聲和以色列王大衛的樂器聲，響起了頌讚耶和華的歌聲。

耶和華上帝感動猶大人，使他們一心遵從王與眾官員奉祂的指示所下的命令。

大衛召來撒督和亞比亞他兩位祭司以及利未人烏列、亞帥雅、約珥、示瑪雅、以列、亞米拿達，對他們說：「你們是利未人的族長，你們和你們的族人都要潔淨自己，好將以色列的上帝耶和華的約櫃抬到我所預備的地方。

他把眾祭司和利未人召集在東邊的廣場，對他們說：「利未人啊，請聽我說！現在你們要潔淨自己，也要潔淨你們祖先的上帝耶和華的殿，除去聖所中的污穢之物。我們的祖先行事不忠，做我們的上帝耶和華視為惡的事，背棄祂，轉臉背向祂的居所。他們封鎖殿廊的門，吹滅燈火，不在聖所裡向以色列的上帝燒香、獻燔祭。因此，耶和華的烈怒臨到猶大和耶路撒冷，使他們的遭遇令人恐懼、震驚、嗤笑，正如你們親眼所見的。所以我們的祖先死在刀下，我們的妻兒也被擄去。現在我決心要與以色列的上帝耶和華立約，好使祂的烈怒轉離我們。我的孩子們啊，不要懈怠！因為耶和華揀選你們站在祂面前事奉祂，向祂燒香。」

我吩咐利未人潔淨自己，然後來看守城門，尊安息日為聖日。我的上帝啊，求你因此而記念我，按你豐盛的慈愛憐憫我。

哈沙比雅、示利比和甲篾的兒子耶書亞是利未人的首領。他們的弟兄站在他們對面，照上帝僕人大衛的吩咐一班一班地讚美、稱頌上帝。負責守衛庫房的是瑪他尼、八布迦、俄巴底亞、米書蘭、達們和亞谷。他們任職時正值約撒達的孫子、耶書亞的兒子約雅金，尼希米省長和律法教師以斯拉祭司的時代。在耶路撒冷的城牆典禮之際，民眾把各處的利未人請到耶路撒冷，來稱頌、歌唱、敲鈸、鼓瑟、彈琴，歡慶典禮。歌樂手的子孫從耶路撒冷周圍地區，尼陀法的村莊，

希西迦向祭司和利未人詢問這些供物的事，撒督家族的亞撒利雅大祭司回答說：「自從民眾把這些供物送到耶和華的殿裡以來，我們不但吃得飽，還剩下許多。因為耶和華賜福給祂的子民，所以才有這麼多剩餘。」

與他們同去的還有利未人示瑪雅、尼探雅、西巴第雅、亞撒黑、示米拉末、約拿單、亞多尼雅、多比雅和駝·巴多尼雅，還有祭司以利沙瑪和約蘭。他們帶著耶和華的律法書，走遍猶大各城鎮教導民眾。

以利亞實大祭司的孫子、耶何耶大的一個兒子娶了和倫人參巴拉的女兒，我就把他趕了出去。

因此，默然等候耶和華的拯救是美好的。

希西迦王與眾官員又吩咐利未人用大衛和亞薩先見的詩詞頌讚耶和華。他們歡喜地歌唱，並低頭敬拜。

他們召集其他利未人一起潔淨自己，並遵照王的吩咐和耶和華的命令，進去潔淨耶和華的殿。

他指派祭司各盡其職，鼓勵他們在耶和華的殿裡事奉，又對將自己獻給耶和華、負責教導以色列人的利未人說：「你們把聖約櫃放在以色列王大衛的兒子所羅門建的殿裡，不用再扛在肩上。現在你們去事奉你們的上帝耶和華和祂的以色列子民吧。你們要按宗族和班次，依照以色列王大衛和他兒子所羅門所寫的指示，預備自己。你們要按你們弟兄所在宗族的班次，侍立在聖所，每個班次中要有幾個利未宗族的人。你們要宰殺逾越節的羊羔，潔淨自己，為你們的弟兄做好準備，依照耶和華藉摩西所吩咐的去行。」
