And as for you, command the priests who bear the ark of the covenant,‘ When you come to the brink of the waters of the Jordan, you shall stand still in the Jordan.’”

Give this command to the priests who carry the Ark of the Covenant:‘ When you reach the banks of the Jordan River, take a few steps into the river and stop there.’”

“你们看见做祭司的利未人抬着你们上帝耶和华的约柜出发时，就要起身跟在后面。

以色列人过河的时候，抬耶和华约柜的祭司站立在河中间的干地上，直到所有人都从干地上过了约旦河。

摩西对百姓说：“你们不用害怕，站稳了，看耶和华用什么方法解救你们。你们再也看不到你们今天看到的埃及人了。

希西迦下令在坛上献燔祭。开始献燔祭时，伴随着号角声和以色列王大卫的乐器声，响起了颂赞耶和华的歌声。

耶和华上帝感动犹大人，使他们一心遵从王与众官员奉祂的指示所下的命令。

大卫召来撒督和亚比亚他两位祭司以及利未人乌列、亚帅雅、约珥、示玛雅、以列、亚米拿达，对他们说：“你们是利未人的族长，你们和你们的族人都要洁净自己，好将以色列的上帝耶和华的约柜抬到我所预备的地方。

他把众祭司和利未人召集在东边的广场，对他们说：“利未人啊，请听我说！现在你们要洁净自己，也要洁净你们祖先的上帝耶和华的殿，除去圣所中的污秽之物。我们的祖先行事不忠，做我们的上帝耶和华视为恶的事，背弃祂，转脸背向祂的居所。他们封锁殿廊的门，吹灭灯火，不在圣所里向以色列的上帝烧香、献燔祭。因此，耶和华的烈怒临到犹大和耶路撒冷，使他们的遭遇令人恐惧、震惊、嗤笑，正如你们亲眼所见的。所以我们的祖先死在刀下，我们的妻儿也被掳去。现在我决心要与以色列的上帝耶和华立约，好使祂的烈怒转离我们。我的孩子们啊，不要懈怠！因为耶和华拣选你们站在祂面前事奉祂，向祂烧香。”

我吩咐利未人洁净自己，然后来看守城门，尊安息日为圣日。我的上帝啊，求你因此而记念我，按你丰盛的慈爱怜悯我。

哈沙比雅、示利比和甲篾的儿子耶书亚是利未人的首领。他们的弟兄站在他们对面，照上帝仆人大卫的吩咐一班一班地赞美、称颂上帝。负责守卫库房的是玛他尼、八布迦、俄巴底亚、米书兰、达们和亚谷。他们任职时正值约撒达的孙子、耶书亚的儿子约雅金，尼希米省长和律法教师以斯拉祭司的时代。在耶路撒冷的城墙典礼之际，民众把各处的利未人请到耶路撒冷，来称颂、歌唱、敲钹、鼓瑟、弹琴，欢庆典礼。歌乐手的子孙从耶路撒冷周围地区，尼陀法的村庄，

希西迦向祭司和利未人询问这些供物的事，撒督家族的亚撒利雅大祭司回答说：“自从民众把这些供物送到耶和华的殿里以来，我们不但吃得饱，还剩下许多。因为耶和华赐福给祂的子民，所以才有这么多剩余。”

与他们同去的还有利未人示玛雅、尼探雅、西巴第雅、亚撒黑、示米拉末、约拿单、亚多尼雅、多比雅和驼·巴多尼雅，还有祭司以利沙玛和约兰。他们带着耶和华的律法书，走遍犹大各城镇教导民众。

以利亚实大祭司的孙子、耶何耶大的一个儿子娶了和伦人参巴拉的女儿，我就把他赶了出去。

因此，默然等候耶和华的拯救是美好的。

希西迦王与众官员又吩咐利未人用大卫和亚萨先见的诗词颂赞耶和华。他们欢喜地歌唱，并低头敬拜。

他们召集其他利未人一起洁净自己，并遵照王的吩咐和耶和华的命令，进去洁净耶和华的殿。

他指派祭司各尽其职，鼓励他们在耶和华的殿里事奉，又对将自己献给耶和华、负责教导以色列人的利未人说：“你们把圣约柜放在以色列王大卫的儿子所罗门建的殿里，不用再扛在肩上。现在你们去事奉你们的上帝耶和华和祂的以色列子民吧。你们要按宗族和班次，依照以色列王大卫和他儿子所罗门所写的指示，预备自己。你们要按你们弟兄所在宗族的班次，侍立在圣所，每个班次中要有几个利未宗族的人。你们要宰杀逾越节的羊羔，洁净自己，为你们的弟兄做好准备，依照耶和华借摩西所吩咐的去行。”
