“我們的祖先在曠野有作證的帳幕，就是跟摩西談話的那位指示他，依照他看見的樣式做的。我們的祖先相繼承受了這帳幕，神把外族人從他們面前趕走以後，他們就同約書亞把帳幕帶進所得為業的地方，直到大衛的日子。

但對那些蒙召的人，不論是猶太人或希臘人，基督是神的能力，神的智慧。因為神的愚笨總比人智慧，神的軟弱總比人剛強。

耶和華啊，求你起來，求你和你有能力的約櫃同入安息的居所。

於是嫩的兒子約書亞把祭司召了來，對他們說：“你們要抬起約櫃；並派七個祭司拿著七個羊角，走在耶和華約櫃的前面。”

“你們要把這律法書，放在耶和華你們的神的約櫃旁，可以在那裡作反對你們的見證，

吩咐人民說：“你們看見耶和華你們的神的約櫃，又看見抬約櫃的利未支派的祭司的時候，就要從你們所住的地方出發，跟在約櫃後面走。

當那些日子，你們在這地繁衍增多的時候，人必不再提說耶和華的約櫃，不把它放在心上，不思念它，不覺得缺少，也不再製造。’這是耶和華的宣告。

約書亞又吩咐祭司說：“你們要抬起約櫃，在人民前面過河去。”於是他們抬起約櫃，走在人民的前面。

裡面有金香壇，有全部包金的約櫃，櫃裡有盛著嗎哪的金罐、亞倫那發過芽的杖和兩塊約板。
