But I took your father Abraham from the land beyond the Euphrates and led him throughout Canaan and gave him many descendants. I gave him Isaac,

I took your father Abraham from the land east of the Euphrates. I led him all through Canaan. I gave him many children and grandchildren. I gave him Isaac.

Then I took your father Abraham from beyond the River and led him through all the land of Canaan, and made his offspring many. I gave him Isaac.

耶和华对亚伯兰说：“你当离开你的本土、本族、父家，往我将要指示你的地去。我要使你成为一个大国，我要祝福你，使你的名为大；你也必成为别人的祝福！祝福你的，我要祝福他；诅咒你的，我要诅咒他。地上万族都必因你而蒙福。”亚伯兰就照着耶和华吩咐他的去了，罗得也与他同去。亚伯兰从哈兰出来的时候年七十五岁。

司提反说：“各位父老兄弟，请听！我们的先祖亚伯拉罕住哈兰以前，还在美索不达米亚的时候，荣耀的神向他显现，对他说：‘你要离开你的故土和亲族，到我所要指示你的地方去。’

撒拉怀了孕，到了神对亚伯拉罕说的那个所定时期，在亚伯拉罕年老的时候，为他生了一个儿子。亚伯拉罕给撒拉为他所生的儿子，起名为以撒。

看哪，儿女是耶和华所赐的继业，腹中的胎儿就是赏报！

耶和华把他带到外面，说：“你向天观看，如果你能数清星辰，就去数吧！”又对他说：“你的后裔也必如此众多。”
