“ Now then, do away with the foreign gods which are in your midst, and incline your hearts to the Lord, the God of Israel.”

“ Now then,” said Joshua,“ throw away the foreign gods that are among you and yield your hearts to the Lord, the God of Israel.”

“ Now then,” said Joshua,“ throw away the statues of the gods that are among you. People from other lands serve those gods. Give yourselves completely to the Lord. He is the God of Israel.”

He said,“ Then put away the foreign gods that are among you, and incline your heart to the Lord, the God of Israel.”

“ All right then,” Joshua said,“ destroy the idols among you, and turn your hearts to the Lord, the God of Israel.”

“ Then get rid of the foreign gods that are among you and turn your hearts to the LORD, the God of Israel.”

“ Now therefore,” he said,“ put away the foreign gods which are among you, and incline your heart to the Lord God of Israel.”

Now therefore put away, said he, the foreign gods which are among you, and incline your heart unto Jehovah, the God of Israel.

“ Then get rid of the foreign gods that are among you and offer your hearts to the Lord, the God of Israel.”

Now therefore put away,[ said he], the strange gods which[ are] among you, and incline your heart unto the LORD God of Israel.

Joshua said,“ Now put aside the foreign gods that are among you and submit to the LORD God of Israel.”

“ Now therefore put away the foreign gods which are among you, and incline your heart to Yahweh, the God of Israel.”

“ Now, therefore, fear the Lord and serve Him in sincerity and truth; and do away with the gods which your fathers served beyond the Euphrates River and in Egypt, and serve the Lord.

What do I mean then? That food sacrificed to idols is anything, or that an idol is anything?No, but I say that things which the Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to demons and not to God; and I do not want you to become partners with demons.You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons; you cannot partake of the table of the Lord and the table of demons.

Or what agreement does the temple of God have with idols? For we are the temple of the living God; just as God said,“ I will dwell among them and walk among them; And I will be their God, and they shall be My people.Therefore, come out from their midst and be separate,” says the Lord.“ And do not touch what is unclean; And I will welcome you.And I will be a father to you, And you shall be sons and daughters to Me,” Says the Lord Almighty.

Then Samuel spoke to all the house of Israel, saying,“ If you are returning to the Lord with all your heart, then remove the foreign gods and the Ashtaroth from among you, and direct your hearts to the Lord and serve Him alone; and He will save you from the hand of the Philistines.”So the sons of Israel removed the Baals and the Ashtaroth, and served the Lord alone.

Therefore, since we receive a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let’s show gratitude, by which we may offer to God an acceptable service with reverence and awe;for our God is a consuming fire.

So Jacob said to his household and to all who were with him,“ Remove the foreign gods which are among you, and purify yourselves and change your garments;and let’s arise and go up to Bethel, and I will make an altar there to God, who answered me on the day of my distress and has been with me wherever I have gone.”So they gave Jacob all the foreign gods which they had and the rings which were in their ears, and Jacob hid them under the oak which was near Shechem.

Then the sons of Israel said to the Lord,“ We have sinned, do to us whatever seems good to You; only please save us this day.”So they removed the foreign gods from among them and served the Lord; and He could no longer endure the misery of Israel.

You shall not make other gods besides Me; gods of silver or gods of gold, you shall not make for yourselves.

Incline my heart to Your testimonies, And not to dishonest gain.

Do not incline my heart to any evil thing, To practice deeds of wickedness With people who do wrong; And may I not taste their delicacies.

Make your ear attentive to wisdom; Incline your heart to understanding.

Take words with you and return to the Lord. Say to Him,“ Take away all guilt And receive us graciously, So that we may present the fruit of our lips.Assyria will not save us, We will not ride on horses; Nor will we say again,‘ Our god’ To the work of our hands; For in You the orphan finds mercy.”

so that He may guide our hearts toward Himself, to walk in all His ways and to keep His commandments, His statutes, and His ordinances, which He commanded our fathers.

Ephraim, what more have I to do with idols? It is I who answer and look after you. I am like a luxuriant juniper; From Me comes your fruit.
