約書亞謂民曰、以色列之上帝耶和華云、古昔爾祖亞伯拉罕、及拿鶴之父他拉、居於河東、崇事他神、

約書亞告民曰、以色列族之上帝耶和華云、亙古爾祖亞伯拉罕及拿鶴之父他拉、居大河東、服事他上帝。

Joshua said to all the people,“ This is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says:‘ Long ago your ancestors, including Terah the father of Abraham and Nahor, lived beyond the Euphrates River and worshiped other gods.

Joshua spoke to all the people. He said,“ The Lord is the God of Israel. He says,‘ Long ago your people lived east of the Euphrates River. They worshiped other gods there. Your people included Terah. He was the father of Abraham and Nahor.

And Joshua said to all the people,“ Thus says the Lord, the God of Israel,‘ Long ago, your fathers lived beyond the Euphrates, Terah, the father of Abraham and of Nahor; and they served other gods.

Joshua said to the people,“ This is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says: Long ago your ancestors, including Terah, the father of Abraham and Nahor, lived beyond the Euphrates River, and they worshiped other gods.

Joshua said to all the people,“ This is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says:‘ Long ago your ancestors, including Terah, the father of Abraham and Nahor, lived beyond the Euphrates River and worshiped other gods.

And Joshua said unto all the people, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, Your fathers dwelt on the other side of the flood in old time,[ even] Terah, the father of Abraham, and the father of Nachor: and they served other gods.

Joshua told all the people,“ Here is what the LORD God of Israel says:‘ In the distant past your ancestors lived beyond the Euphrates River, including Terah the father of Abraham and Nahor. They worshiped other gods,

Joshua said to all the people,“ Yahweh, the God of Israel, says,‘ Your fathers lived of old time beyond the River, even Terah, the father of Abraham, and the father of Nahor. They served other gods.

願亞伯拉罕的神和拿鶴的神，就是他們父親的神，在你我中間判斷。」雅各就指着他父親以撒所敬畏的神起誓，

現在你既然這麼想念你的父家，不得不去，為甚麼又偷了我的神明呢？」

若你們認為事奉耶和華不好，今日就可以選擇所要事奉的：是你們列祖在大河那邊所事奉的神明，或是你們所住這地亞摩利人的神明呢？至於我和我家，我們必定事奉耶和華。」

他們就把手中所有外邦的神明和自己耳朵上的環子交給雅各；雅各把它們埋在示劍那裏的橡樹下。

當時拉班去剪羊毛，拉結偷了他父親家中的神像。

要追想你們的祖宗亞伯拉罕和生你們的撒拉；因為我選召亞伯拉罕時，他只有一個人，但我賜福給他，使他增多。

你要在耶和華－你神面前告白說：『我的祖先原是一個流亡的亞蘭人，帶着稀少的人丁下到埃及寄居。在那裏，他卻成了又大又強、人數眾多的國。

你要說，主耶和華對耶路撒冷如此說：你的根源，你的出身，是在迦南地；你的父親是亞摩利人，母親是赫人。

至於你的神明，你若在誰那裏搜出來，就不讓誰活。當着我們弟兄面前，你認一認在我這裏有甚麼東西是你的，你就拿去吧。」原來雅各並不知道拉結偷了神明。

他拉活到七十歲，生了亞伯蘭、拿鶴和哈蘭。這是他拉的後代。他拉生亞伯蘭、拿鶴和哈蘭；哈蘭生羅得。哈蘭死在他父親他拉的面前，死在他的出生地迦勒底的吾珥。亞伯蘭、拿鶴各娶了妻。亞伯蘭的妻子名叫撒萊，拿鶴的妻子名叫密迦，是哈蘭的女兒。哈蘭是密迦和亦迦的父親。撒萊不生育，沒有孩子。他拉帶着他兒子亞伯蘭和他孫子，哈蘭的兒子羅得，以及他的媳婦，亞伯蘭的妻子撒萊，一同出了迦勒底的吾珥，要往迦南地去；他們來到哈蘭，就住在那裏。他拉共活了二百零五年，就死在哈蘭。耶和華對亞伯蘭說：「你要離開本地、本族、父家，往我所要指示你的地去。
