約書亞謂民曰、以色列之上帝耶和華云、古昔爾祖亞伯拉罕、及拿鶴之父他拉、居於河東、崇事他神、

約書亞告民曰、以色列族之上帝耶和華云、亙古爾祖亞伯拉罕及拿鶴之父他拉、居大河東、服事他上帝。

Joshua said to all the people,“ This is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says:‘ Long ago your ancestors, including Terah the father of Abraham and Nahor, lived beyond the Euphrates River and worshiped other gods.

Joshua spoke to all the people. He said,“ The Lord is the God of Israel. He says,‘ Long ago your people lived east of the Euphrates River. They worshiped other gods there. Your people included Terah. He was the father of Abraham and Nahor.

And Joshua said to all the people,“ Thus says the Lord, the God of Israel,‘ Long ago, your fathers lived beyond the Euphrates, Terah, the father of Abraham and of Nahor; and they served other gods.

Joshua said to all the people,“ This is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says:‘ Long ago your ancestors, including Terah, the father of Abraham and Nahor, lived beyond the Euphrates River and worshiped other gods.

And Joshua said unto all the people, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, Your fathers dwelt on the other side of the flood in old time,[ even] Terah, the father of Abraham, and the father of Nachor: and they served other gods.

Joshua said to all the people,“ Yahweh, the God of Israel, says,‘ Your fathers lived of old time beyond the River, even Terah, the father of Abraham, and the father of Nahor. They served other gods.

May the God of Abraham and the god of Nahor, the gods of their father, judge between us.” Jacob took an oath by the God whom his father Isaac feared.

Now I understand that you have gone away because you longed desperately for your father’s house. Yet why did you steal my gods?”

If you have no desire to worship the LORD, choose today whom you will worship, whether it be the gods whom your ancestors worshiped beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you are living. But I and my family will worship the LORD!”

So they gave Jacob all the foreign gods that were in their possession and the rings that were in their ears. Jacob buried them under the oak near Shechem

While Laban had gone to shear his sheep, Rachel stole the household idols that belonged to her father.

Look at Abraham, your father, and Sarah, who gave you birth. When I summoned him, he was a lone individual, but I blessed him and gave him numerous descendants.

Then you must affirm before the LORD YOUR GOD,“ A wandering Aramean was my ancestor, and he went down to Egypt and lived there as a foreigner with a household few in number, but there he became a great, powerful, and numerous people.

Whoever has taken your gods will be put to death! In the presence of our relatives identify whatever is yours and take it.”( Now Jacob did not know that Rachel had stolen them.)

When Terah had lived 70 years, he became the father of Abram, Nahor, and Haran.This is the account of Terah. Terah became the father of Abram, Nahor, and Haran. And Haran became the father of Lot.Haran died in the land of his birth, in Ur of the Chaldeans, while his father Terah was still alive.And Abram and Nahor took wives for themselves. The name of Abram’s wife was Sarai, and the name of Nahor’s wife was Milcah; she was the daughter of Haran, the father of both Milcah and Iscah.But Sarai was barren; she had no children.Terah took his son Abram, his grandson Lot( the son of Haran), and his daughter-in-law Sarai, his son Abram’s wife, and with them he set out from Ur of the Chaldeans to go to Canaan. When they came to Haran, they settled there.The lifetime of Terah was 205 years, and he died in Haran.Now the LORD said to Abram,“ Go out from your country, your relatives, and your father’s household to the land that I will show you.
