Joshua said to the people,“ You are not able to serve the Lord. He is a holy God; he is a jealous God. He will not forgive your rebellion and your sins.

Joshua warned the people,“ You will not keep worshiping the LORD, for he is a holy God. He is a jealous God who will not forgive your rebellion or your sins.

伯示麥人說：「誰能在這位聖潔的神耶和華面前站立得住呢？應該請他離開我們上誰那裡去呢？」

唯有萬軍之耶和華必因公正受尊崇，至聖的神必因公義顯為聖。

你們當尊崇耶和華我們的神，當在他的腳凳前下拜，他是至聖者！

你們當尊崇耶和華我們的神，當在他的聖山下拜，因為耶和華我們的神是至聖者！

他們彼此呼喊說：「聖哉！聖哉！聖哉！萬軍之耶和華！他的榮耀充滿全地。」因呼喊者的聲音，門檻的根基震動，殿裡充滿了煙雲。那時我說：「我有禍了，我要滅亡了！因為我是個嘴唇不潔淨的人，住在嘴唇不潔淨的民眾當中；又因為我親眼看見了大君王萬軍之耶和華。」

「一個人不能服事兩個主人。他不是厭惡這個、喜愛那個，就是忠於這個、輕視那個。你們不能既服事神，又服事財富。

娜娥米說：「看哪，你嫂子已經回到她的族人和她的神那裡去了，你也隨著你嫂子回去吧！」

因此我向以利家起了誓：『以利家的罪孽是永遠不能用祭物或供物來贖清的。』」

以色列的聖者主耶和華如此說：「你們得救在於悔改和安息，你們得力在於平靜和信靠。」你們卻不肯接受，

枝條枯乾時，必被折斷，婦女要來，拿去燒火。因為這百姓愚昧，所以造他們的必不憐憫他們，塑造他們的必不恩待他們。

你們要離開這道，轉離這路，不要在我們面前再提以色列的聖者了！」

不，我是說，外邦人所獻的祭是獻給鬼魔的，不是獻給神的；而我不願意你們成為與鬼魔有份的人。你們不能既喝主的杯，又喝鬼魔的杯；不能既吃主的筵席，又吃鬼魔的筵席。難道我們要激起主的嫉恨嗎？難道我們比他更強嗎？

有一大群人與耶穌同行。他轉過身來對他們說：「如果有人到我這裡來，而不恨自己的父親、母親、妻子、兒女、兄弟、姐妹，甚至自己的生命，他就不能做我的門徒。凡是不背著自己的十字架來跟從我的，也不能做我的門徒。「你們當中到底有誰想蓋一座樓，不先坐下來計算費用，看自己是否能夠完成呢？免得立好了地基，卻不能完工，看見的人都開始嘲笑他，說：『這個人開始蓋了，卻不能完工！』「或者，有哪一個君王要出去和別的君王交戰，不先坐下來考慮是否能夠用一萬兵去迎戰那用兩萬兵來攻打他的呢？否則，就會趁著他還遠的時候，差派特使去求問和平的事宜。同樣，你們當中任何人，如果不向自己所擁有的一切告別，就不能做我的門徒。
