The people of Beth-shemesh asked,“ Who is able to stand in the presence of the LORD this holy God? To whom should the ark go from here?”

“ Speak to the entire Israelite community and tell them: Be holy because I, the LORD your God, am holy.

But the LORD of Armies is exalted by his justice, and the holy God demonstrates his holiness through his righteousness.

Do not bow in worship to them, and do not serve them; for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, bringing the consequences of the fathers’ iniquity on the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate me,

Exalt the LORD our God; bow in worship at his footstool. He is holy.

Exalt the LORD our God; bow in worship at his holy mountain, for the LORD our God is holy.

Because the LORD is jealous for his reputation, you are never to bow down to another god. He is a jealous God.
