Then Reuben, Gad and the half-tribe of Manasseh replied to the heads of the clans of Israel:

Then the tribes of Reuben and Gad and half of the tribe of Manasseh replied. They answered the leaders of the family groups of Israel.

Then the people of Reuben, the people of Gad, and the half-tribe of Manasseh said in answer to the heads of the families of Israel,

The Reubenites, Gadites, and half the tribe of Manasseh answered the heads of the Israelite clans,

只要心里尊主基督为圣。有人问你们心中盼望的缘由，就要常作准备，以温柔、敬畏的心回答各人；

并要从百姓中拣选有才能的人，就是敬畏神、诚实无妄、恨不义之财的人，派他们作千夫长、百夫长、五十夫长、十夫长，管理百姓，叫他们随时审判百姓，大事都要呈到你这里，小事他们自己可以审判。这样，你就轻省些，他们也可以同当此任。你若这样行，神也这样吩咐你，你就能受得住，这百姓也都平平安安归回他们的住处。”于是，摩西听从他岳父的话，按着他所说的去行。摩西从以色列人中拣选了有才能的人，立他们为百姓的首领，作千夫长、百夫长、五十夫长、十夫长。

伯利恒以法他啊，你在犹大诸城中为小，将来必有一位从你那里出来，在以色列中为我作掌权的；他的根源从亘古，从太初就有。

彼得就开口把这事挨次给他们讲解说：

未曾听完先回答的，便是他的愚昧和羞辱。

我亲爱的弟兄们，这是你们所知道的。但你们各人要快快地听，慢慢地说，慢慢地动怒，

心中的谋算在乎人；舌头的应对由于耶和华。

应对正直的，犹如与人亲嘴。

回答柔和，使怒消退；言语暴戾，触动怒气。
