Then Reuben, Gad and the half-tribe of Manasseh replied to the heads of the clans of Israel:

要心里尊基督为主。如果有人问起你们心中的盼望，你们要随时准备答复，

此外，要在百姓当中挑选一些敬畏上帝、有才干、诚实、正直、憎恶不义之财的人，派他们做千夫长、百夫长、五十夫长和十夫长，管理百姓。让他们随时为百姓判案，处理小纠纷，遇到大事才由你审理。有他们分担你的责任，你会更轻省。如果你这样做，并且上帝也这样吩咐你，你就能承受得住，百姓也可以平安地回家。”于是，摩西接纳了岳父的建议，依言而行，从百姓中挑选有才干的人，委派他们做千夫长、百夫长、五十夫长和十夫长管理百姓。

以法他的伯利恒啊，你在犹大各城中毫不起眼，但将有一位从你那里出来，为我统治以色列；祂的根源自亘古，来自太初。

彼得就把事情的经过一一向他们解释，说：

未听先答的人，自显愚昧和羞辱。

我亲爱的弟兄姊妹，请记住：每个人都要快快地听，慢慢地说，慢慢地动怒。

心中的策划在于人，应对之言来自耶和华。

诚实的回答如同友好的亲吻。

温和的回答平息怒气，粗暴的言词激起愤怒。
