昔崇拜毘珥、其罪豈小乎、主之會眾、雖已為此遭疫癘、我儕至今猶未盡脫之、

Was not the sin of Peor enough for us? Up to this very day we have not cleansed ourselves from that sin, even though a plague fell on the community of the Lord!

Don’t you remember how we sinned at Peor? The Lord struck us with a plague because of what we did. Up to this day we’re still suffering because of that sin.

Have we not had enough of the sin at Peor from which even yet we have not cleansed ourselves, and for which there came a plague upon the congregation of the Lord,

Was our sin at Peor not enough? To this day we are not fully cleansed of it, even after the plague that struck the entire community of the Lord.

Wasn’t the iniquity of Peor, which brought a plague on the LORD’s community, enough for us? We have not cleansed ourselves from it even to this day,

The sin we committed at Peor was bad enough. To this very day we have not purified ourselves; it even brought a plague on the community of the LORD.

你們已親眼看見耶和華因巴力‧毗珥所做的。凡隨從巴力‧毗珥的人，耶和華－你的上帝都從你中間除滅了。只有你們這緊緊跟隨耶和華－你們上帝的人，今日全都存活。

以色列人住在什亭，百姓開始與摩押女子行淫。這些女子請百姓一同為她們的神明獻祭，百姓吃了祭物，跪拜她們的神明。以色列與巴力‧毗珥聯合，耶和華的怒氣就向以色列發作。耶和華對摩西說：「拿下百姓中所有的領袖，對着太陽把他們懸掛在我面前，使我向以色列所發的怒氣可以平息。」於是摩西對以色列的審判官說：「你們的人若有與巴力‧毗珥聯合的，你們各人就要把他們殺了。」摩西和以色列全會眾在會幕門口哭泣的時候，看哪，有一個以色列人，在他們眼前帶着一個米甸女子，到他弟兄那裏。亞倫祭司的孫子，以利亞撒的兒子非尼哈看見了，就從會眾中起來，手裏拿着槍，跟這以色列人進入帳棚，刺穿了二人，就是以色列人和那女子的肚腹。這樣，以色列人遭受的瘟疫就停止了。遭瘟疫死的，有二萬四千人。耶和華吩咐摩西說：「亞倫祭司的孫子，以利亞撒的兒子非尼哈，使我的憤怒轉離以色列人，因為在他們中間，他以我的妒忌為他的妒忌，使我不在妒忌中毀滅以色列人。因此，你要說：『看哪，我將我平安的約賜給他。這是他和他的後裔永遠當祭司職任的約，因他為了上帝而妒忌，他為以色列人贖罪。』」那與米甸女子一起被殺的以色列人，名叫心利，是撒路的兒子，是西緬一個父家的領袖。那被殺的米甸女子，名叫哥斯比，是蘇珥的女兒；蘇珥是米甸一個父家的領袖。耶和華吩咐摩西說：「你要苦害米甸人，擊殺他們；因為他們用詭計苦害你們，在毗珥的事上和他們的姊妹，米甸領袖的女兒哥斯比的事上，欺騙了你們；在瘟疫的日子，這女子因毗珥的事件被殺了。」

他們又與巴力‧毗珥連合，吃了祭死人的物。他們這樣行，惹耶和華發怒，就有瘟疫流行在他們中間。

這些事發生在他們身上，要作為鑒戒，而且寫下來正是要警戒我們這末世的人。

我們也不可犯姦淫，像他們中有些人曾經犯過，一天就倒斃了二萬三千人。

我們因自己的惡行和大罪，遭遇這一切的事，但你－我們的上帝懲罰我們輕於我們罪所當得的，又為我們留下這些殘存之民。我們豈可再違背你的誡命，與行這些可憎之事的民族結親呢？若我們這樣行，你豈不向我們發怒，將我們滅絕，以致沒有一個餘民或殘存之民嗎？
