昔崇拜毘珥、其罪豈小乎、主之會眾、雖已為此遭疫癘、我儕至今猶未盡脫之、

Was not the sin of Peor enough for us? Up to this very day we have not cleansed ourselves from that sin, even though a plague fell on the community of the Lord!

Don’t you remember how we sinned at Peor? The Lord struck us with a plague because of what we did. Up to this day we’re still suffering because of that sin.

Have we not had enough of the sin at Peor from which even yet we have not cleansed ourselves, and for which there came a plague upon the congregation of the Lord,

Was our sin at Peor not enough? To this day we are not fully cleansed of it, even after the plague that struck the entire community of the Lord.

Wasn’t the iniquity of Peor, which brought a plague on the LORD’s community, enough for us? We have not cleansed ourselves from it even to this day,

The sin we committed at Peor was bad enough. To this very day we have not purified ourselves; it even brought a plague on the community of the LORD.

你们亲眼看见耶和华在巴力·毗珥事件中的作为，你们的上帝耶和华毁灭了你们中间所有拜巴力·毗珥的人，但你们这些信靠你们的上帝耶和华的人至今还活着。

以色列人驻扎在什亭期间，有些人与摩押女子行淫。那些女子邀他们参加祭祀，他们吃了祭物，并跪拜她们的神明，结果使以色列与巴力·毗珥苟合。耶和华大怒，对摩西说：“把为首的人都抓起来，当着我的面在大白天处死他们，以消除我对以色列人的怒气。”于是，摩西对以色列的审判官说：“你们各自把权下与巴力·毗珥苟合的人处死。”摩西和以色列全体会众正在会幕门口痛哭的时候，有个以色列人当着他们的面把一个米甸女子带进自家的帐篷。亚伦祭司的孙子、以利亚撒的儿子非尼哈看见了，便起身离开会众，拿着矛枪，跟着进入那人的帐篷，一枪刺透那对男女的腹部。以色列人当中的瘟疫马上止住了，但已有两万四千人死于瘟疫。耶和华对摩西说：“亚伦祭司的孙子、以利亚撒的儿子非尼哈消了我对以色列人的怒气。因为在会众中他与我一样痛恨不贞，我才没有在烈怒中消灭他们。你告诉他，我要赐给他平安的约，使他和他的后代凭此约可以永远做祭司，因为他为我除掉了不贞之人，为以色列人赎了罪。”与米甸女子一同被杀的以色列人名叫心利，是撒路的儿子，是西缅支派的一个族长。被杀的米甸女子名叫哥斯比，她父亲苏珥是米甸人的一个族长。耶和华对摩西说：“你要攻打米甸人，击杀他们。因为他们心存敌意，在毗珥陷害你们，他们的姊妹——米甸首领的女儿哥斯比诱惑你们，她在毗珥事件招来瘟疫之日被杀。”

他们在毗珥祭拜巴力，吃献给假神的祭物。他们的所作所为触怒耶和华，以致瘟疫降在他们中间，

发生在他们身上的这些事都是鉴戒，之所以记录下来是为了警戒我们这活在末世的人。

我们也不要淫乱，像他们当中的人那样，结果一天就死了两万三千人。

“虽然因为我们的恶行和大罪，这一切事情临到我们，但我们的上帝啊，你给我们的惩罚比我们该受的轻多了，你还施恩给我们留下这些余民。我们岂能再违背你的诫命，与这些行为可憎的人通婚？若我们这样行，你岂不发怒毁灭我们，使我们无一幸免吗？
